About The Team

The diagnostic imaging team at The Animal Hospital at Murdoch University is comprised of skilled radiologists medical imaging technologists and dedicated nurses. Operating during regular business hours from Monday to Friday this highly trained team provides a comprehensive range of imaging modalities including radiography ultrasound CT MRI and fluoroscopy. The team collaborates closely with various departments within the multidisciplinary hospital ensuring that the diagnostic imaging needs of patientsregardless of their size or speciesare met efficiently and with the highest standard of care. This integrated approach supports accurate diagnoses and optimal treatment outcomes for all animals under their care.

The Animal Hospital at Murdoch University is an ASAVA accredited facility with a robust referral emergency and primary care caseload across a breadth of animal species. The Animal Hospital provides clinical experience for fifth year veterinary students enrolled in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program and provides caseload for the training of residents and discipline-specific postgraduate trainees.

Your New Role!

The key purpose of this role is to perform high quality diagnostic imaging procedures for small and large animals in The Animal Hospital At Murdoch University whilst providing support and training to veterinary students and nurses in the Diagnostic Imaging department as required.

Your Key responsibilities will include

  • In conjunction with the licensee(s) perform high quality diagnostic imaging procedures for both small and large animals including all imaging modalities intra- operative procedures image intensifier procedures contrast procedures and assisting with ultrasound special procedures.
  • Competently and safely perform routine CT scans radiography /- MRI and assist with interventional studies performed by clinicians. Be responsible for the safety of all personnel within the hazardous environments.
  • Provide support and training to veterinary students and veterinary nurses in the Diagnostic Imaging section as required.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and external clients (as required)
  • Strict adherence to University and TAHMU policies procedures and protocols. Strict adherence with The Veterinary Surgeons Act of WA Radiological Council of Western Australia Regulations and other veterinary industry related Acts and Regulations.
  • Establish and enforce radiation safety practices and protocols for staff and students working in the Diagnostic Imaging department in accordance with current legislation covered by the Radiation Protection in Veterinary Medicine: CODE OF PRACTICE & SAFETY GUIDE.
  • Assist with the setup operation and maintenance all imaging and ancillary equipment. Perform routine troubleshooting and problem solving organise maintenance schedules non-routine repairs and liaise with service companies.
  • Assist with the documentation and archiving of all records and materials entering the Diagnostic Imaging facility including database entries image teaching files the radiology resource library and the Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS) maintenance and administration.

This 12-month fixed term part-time with immediate opportunity for additional hours attracts a remuneration of $108115 $116822 pro rata including 17% employer superannuation addition this role will include a market loading once competency in imaging modalities such as MRI CT and radiography has been achieved.

What youll bring to the role:

  • Completeda Bachelor of Science (Medical Imaging Science) or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two years experience in medical and/or veterinary diagnostic imaging procedurespost qualification.
  • Current Radiation Licence with the Radiological Council of Western Australia.
  • Experience in radiography CT C-arm /- MRI. The Hospital currently operates a Canon Aquillion Lightning 80 Slice CT and GE Sigma Excite 1.5 Tesla MRI.
  • Experience with computer systems and software used indiagnostic imaging .
  • Highly effective communication customer service and interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with staff at all levels of the organisation.
