BETA seeks a motivated cabinetmaker/woodworker for our Building Trades Team who is enthusiastic about safety quality and teamwork. The team member is responsible for building a variety of cabinetry furniture and fixtures in support of BETAs goal of revolutionizing aviation. They will help manufacture modular buildings that support Beta flight manufacturing and R&D operations as well as support improvement projects at BETAs various buildings. The bulk of the work is performed at our Avenue D facility in South Burlington but team members also travel to work at our facilities both within and outside Vermont. An exciting and fun part of the work is helping deploy BETA trade booths at two to three venues in the US and Europe each year
The ideal candidate will be an open-minded organized and motivated learner continually building their experience by adding new skills through daily effort curiosity and interactions with team members. They would also be goal-oriented detail-focused and a team player who can shift priorities quickly. Work at BETA is often changeable and challenging but we always try to have fun.
How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:
- Setup and operate machines including power saws jointers planers edge banders and shapers to cut wood stock and sheet goods
- Cut materials to the right size shape and trim parts to ensure a snug fit
- Produce and assemble items such as cabinets furniture or fixtures and prepare them for finishing
- Read cabinet and project plans review methods and order of operations for shaping and cutting materials with the team leader
- Production of panels and components jigs and storage boxes
- lean manufacturing space and work areas daily
- Flexibility to perform other tasks as needed to ensure the charge team and Beta meet their deadlines
Minimum Qualifications:
- 1-year experience in woodshop manufacturing cabinetry
- Self-starter that is well organized disciplined and a team player
- Maintains work area in a neat orderly and organized manner
- Attention to detail
- Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to handle setbacks ask for help and find solutions
- All around good person who is fun to work with
- Perform tasks in a safe and responsible manner
- Communication skills: Microsoft suite and Slack
- Interest in short trips to perform job-related tasks
Above and Beyond Qualifications:
- Carpentry experience a big plus
- Experience with basic machine maintenance
- Understanding of building systems and techniques
- Rough carpentry experience
- Experience operating a CNC machine
- Spray finishing skills
$28 - $35 an hour
