Total Safety is looking for a DOT Compliance Specialist to join their safety conscious team! The DOT Compliance Specialist coordinates analyzes and monitors the Total Safety U.S. DOT program to ensure all applicable standards are met or exceeded. Responsible for providing DOT and/or DOT related training monitoring regulatory compliance and participating with or assisting operations and HSE in the development and implementation of DOT program(s).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Working with the operations staff in dealing with all matters relating to the implementation of DOT policies procedures training and compliance.
- Compiling andmaintainingdriver qualification files for all DOT drivers.
- Auditing Driver logs for compliance and accuracy
- Coaching/mentoring DOT driversto ensure compliance
- Incident reporting andinvestigation asrelated to vehicle incidents and non-compliance issues.
- Completion and filing ofrequiredregulatory and internal reports.
- Ability to verbally communicate DOTconcepts clearly and concisely to all levels of employees.
- Ability to present DOTconcepts clearly and concisely in written format.
- Conduct audits to ensure compliance with division standards all levels oflegislationand develop corrective actions asrequired.
- Advises and supports operations in terms of DOTinitiatives and processes.
- Ability to conduct classroom and on-the-road training for employees.
MinimumRequirements
- Aminimum of 2 years of experience and knowledge of pertinent DOT regulations.
- Knowledgecompetencyand experience in DOT issues. Experience with field service operations ispreferredand knowledge of oil and gas operations is a plus.
- Good verbal and written communication analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to build andmaintainpositive customer relationships both internal and external.
- Identifyingproblems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Using logic and reasoning toidentifythe strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programsincluding:Excel Word PowerPoint Access.
- Must be willing to travel among districts and sites.
Education
- High School or Equivalent Required along with a minimum of 2 years DOT experience OR
- Associates Degree orBachelorsDegreepreferred along with a minimum of three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job the employeeis regularly required tostand; walk; and stoop kneel or crouch.â Uses hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.â The employeeis occasionally required tosit.â The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.â Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance visioncolorvision and ability to adjust focus.

- While performing the duties of this job the employee is exposed to a standard indoor office and warehouse environment.
