Teaching Associate (TA) for the Department of English

Position Overview:
The Department of English seeks graduate students as Teaching Associate Associates typically are responsible for providing classroom is determined by successfulTA eligibility department eligibility and adequate funding.
The department reserves the right to choose the most qualified candidate for each position and to assign TAs to the courses that are appropriate for the department program and curriculum in any given semester. Due to staff and curriculum changes courses offered may vary and no guarantee of employment from semester to semester can be made.
Anticipated Appointment Dates:This position is opened until filled. If you have applied and no other positions are available you will be notified.
Hours/Units per week:Students can work up to 20-hours per week;
Job Dutiesmay include the following but will be dependent upon the specific course to which the teaching associate will be assigned as well as upon the specific needs of the faculty member in charge of the course:
Qualifications:A candidate for the position of teaching associate in the Department of English must meet the following minimum qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:
The Hiring Committee also looks favorably upon applicants who have successfully completed courses in history of the English language grammar linguistics creative writing form and theory courses (English) or teaching English as a second courses might include English 175T (Special Topics in Rhetoric and Writing) English 131 (Literacy Studies) CI 161 (Methods and Materials in Secondary Teaching) English 132S (Rhetoric Grammar Writing Instruction) and Linguistics 237 (Teaching Basic Written English). Writing tutoring or teaching experience preferred but not required.
