Located in the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City and canonically established by Archbishop Paul Coakley in 2025 St. Monica Catholic Academy is a newly founded Catholic classical school in Edmond Oklahoma opening in fall 2026. It will begin with grades PreK4 through 2nd grade expanding one grade level annually toward a full PreK12 program. Rooted in the Catholic intellectual tradition and a classical liberal arts curriculum the academys mission centers on forming the whole person through a joyful encounter with Jesus Christ through daily Mass a rich sacramental life and the harmonious integration of faith reason and culture. It emphasizes the careful cultivation of intellectual and moral virtues the diligentpractice of the manual arts and a deep and abiding appreciation of the timeless treasures of Christendom preparing students not as mere efficient workers but as trulyfree citizens of the earthly city and saints destined for Heaven.

St. Monica Catholic Academy seeks a visionary and faithful Head of Lower School to shape and lead grades PreK4 to 8th Grade. This position will work with both the Pastor and Headmaster to implement the vision of the schools mission overseeing its spiritual academic and operational foundations. The right candidate will be an inspiring leader deeply immersed in the Catholic intellectual and liturgical traditions capable of working with a world-class faculty attracting interested families and ensuring that the school stands as a beacon of Catholic education for generations to come.

The Head of Lower School will serve as the inaugural principal of the grammar school and in that role must possess the requisite skills to spearhead faculty formation curriculum implementation school finances and enrollment management as well as to develop a warm rapport with fellow principals teachers the parents of small children parishioners and members of the local community.

This position is required to convey the Churchs message and to assist in carrying out the Churchs mission. This position is required to uphold the standards of the Catholic Church in his/her day-to day work and personal life. Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Devout practicing Catholic with a strong personal prayer life
  • Deep commitment to understanding of and ability to adeptly apply Catholic liberal arts tradition in a classroom setting for the formation of the whole child
  • Familiarity with the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Schools and the Catholic Curriculum Standards
  • Graduate degree in theology philosophy education or the liberal arts
  • Oklahoma principal certification or ability to obtain
  • Experience as a principal or teacher in a classical Catholic school setting preferred
  • Proficient knowledge of the instructional and accreditation process
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience managing faculty and staff maintaining a balanced budget and analyzing student achievement enrollment and demographic data for decision making
