Sr. Design Engineer (Electric Distribution)

The Sr. Design Engineer performs engineering design for overhead and underground system hardening projects that strengthen and modernize utility infrastructure. This role works both independently and alongside senior engineers applying technical expertise to a variety of design assignments while receiving guidance on new or complex challenges. The position offers the opportunity to collaborate with experienced professionals expand technical knowledge and contribute to projects that improve system reliability and resilience.

What Youll Do:

• Applies technical knowledge to designs and ensures projects meet specifications.
• Shares information with team as well as questions internal and external Stakeholders to appreciate the design requirements and nuances of tasks.
• Communicates challenges to managers regarding scope cost schedule and quality.
• Works with Designers and Drafters to complete design packages
• Supports the preparation of simple and medium designs or small portions of larger projects including calculations and drawings
• Leads the development of their disciplines design on simple projects and supports complex projects including moderate difficulty technical analyses
• Understands and applies appropriate industry codes standards and regulations
• Conducts communications in a professional and clear manner; communications are timely and in an appropriate format for the topic.
• Interacts with Clients and vendors in an independent nature with indirect oversight from project lead.
• Assists the Design Coordinator in evaluation of design personnel; assigns design related tasks to Designers and Drafters via the Design Coordinator
• Ensures the work products prepared under their control follow established ENE and client procedures including quality control document control procurement and other pertinent policies
• Self-checks work assignments prior to submitting for review completes work with minimal errors. Participates in peer reviews and QC reviews.
• Performs all other related duties including fielding as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in engineering at ABET accredited university
• 3 years of electrical distribution design experience
• Self-motivated to solve problems.

• This position pays between $85000 to 90000 annually and is an exempt position. Benefits offered include company-sponsored medical dental vision and 401(k) plan with company match.
