How will you make an impact in this role

This position is expected to take an important role in shaping and delivering the future strategy for the American Express - PAYBACK Italy organization with clear accountability for the definition execution and delivery of key strategic initiatives. The role requires a senior professional with demonstrated ownership and decision-making responsibility operating with the full support of the American Express and subsidiary Loyalty Partner organization. Giving rise to the worlds largest Loyalty Management company this partnership combines the strengths of American Express with the marketing and couponing platform and expertise of Loyalty Partner and the PAYBACK coalition loyalty program Europes and Germanys largest multichannel marketing platform. PAYBACK has over 35 million active customers collecting bonus points and spending them across a wide range of retail travel and service industries.

The business model generates more value for customers card members and merchants often engaging with them via social and digital platforms. The role carries end-to-end ownership of some of the most strategic topics for the business unit leveraging fundamental brand technology funding and people assets to deliver measurable and sustainable business outcomes.

The incumbent will be reporting to the Director of Acquisition and Partner management with direct responsibility for the management of existing and future partner companies into the loyalty program. This includes interacting with partner companies and act as a single point of contact for all project-related and operational matters i.e.

  • Designing and implementing strategies and tactical measures to realize the value of the partner participation in the loyalty program both for the partner and for the program
  • Driving decisions in the development of new business models to generate additional value for the program and for the partner
  • Liasing and coordinating all internal and external stakeholders involved in any partners processes and activities within the loyalty program
  • Ensure effective and consistent representation of the Brand in partner interactions

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in grocery retail/GDO industry within marketing functions (preferably loyalty programs).
  • Previous experience in top strategy consulting firms is highly recommended
  • Demonstrated capability in negotiating complex commercial agreements including the design of customized value propositions delivering sustainable long-term outcomes.
  • Strong strategic thinking and business development capabilities with the ability to translate strategy into executable initiatives
  • Solid experience in cross-functional leadership including coordination of multiple senior stakeholders and management of high-complexity projects
  • Strong analytical and performance-driven mindset with the ability to leverage data and KPIs to drive decision-making
  • Well-developed governance risk and control mindset with experience operating in highly regulated environments
  • Executive-level communication and influencing skills
  • University degree with focus in marketing or related fields; MBA preferred

  • Native Italian speaker fluent in English German is a plus
  • Role is based in Milan
