Job Summary

Kearney Public Schools is accepting applications fora Special Education Supervisor starting the 2026-2027 school year. This is an Administrative position with competitive pay and benefits. 225 day contract.

QUALIFICATIONS: The special education supervisor will meet all qualifications and behavior standards as set by State of Nebraska accordance with certification requirements and the performance expectations of the Kearney Public Schools all special education supervisor shall meet the following employment criteria.

  • Education: BA/BS from an accredited college or university with Special Education endorsement; MA inAdministration preferred.
  • Valid Nebraska Certificate (applicable level/area endorsements preferred).
  • Completed credential file that meets Kearney Public School standards.
  • Professional verification of successful classroom teacher performance and/or student teaching experience.
  • Evidence of the willingness and the ability to comply with the standards for ethical and professionalperformance established by the State Board of Education.
  • Interview/file data will include evidence of sensitivity and respect for others and verification of thedemonstrated ability to serve as a positive role model for youth.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
  • Experience in working with students with disabilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (Include but are not limited to)

  • Assist in the development implementation and monitoring of special education procedures and programs.
  • Implements Board policy regarding education philosophy and curriculum under direction of administrationthrough planning organizing managing interacting with students.
  • Lead trainings and/or serve as an active member of district or school teams which may include: StudentAssistance Team (SAT) Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) Individual Education Plan (IEP) Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Early Childhood as requested.
  • Serve as a key collaborator with the district special education teachers and specialists to monitor studentprogramming review special education documentation and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions at the building and district level.
  • Evaluate students using a variety of instruments to diagnose educational needs and learning styles.
  • Serves as a resource to students regular and special education staff administration parents and communitymembers pertaining to special education.
  • Serves as liaison between the district home school and outside educational agencies.
  • Provides transitional vocational/career exploration for students age 16 to graduation on completion ofprogram.
  • Provides expertise and possible supervision to college student interns and student teaching experiences.
  • Evaluation of Special Education staff as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
