Job Summary

Ad Terra a Malaysia based geoscience & engineering consulting consulting firm is actively looking for a SeniorGeologist who will be responsible for conducting geological surveys collecting samples and performing analysis of rock formations to identify new oil and gas deposits and drilling feasibility for client projects. S/he helps develop knowledge and methods in the field of geology through the monitoring of new trends the publication and review of scientific articles.

Key responsibilities

Data acquisition

Design data acquisition plans
Define suitable seismic measurements methods
Adapt data collection methods

Data processing

Process seismic data well information logs
Define suitable seismic measurements and data-processing methods
Load gather transfer and organize seismic data
Conduct quality control of data
Populate and maintain databases

Data interpretation

Conduct geological interpretations
Build map and test geological models
Make structural interpretation and mapping
Run forecasts and estimate fuel amount
Interpret and implement drilling strategies for extraction
Resolve interpretation issues

Projects

Complete tasks in areas of expertise
Document progress setbacks and new processes
Establish clear and relevant timesheets

Reporting

Generate and write reports create maps tables figures and summaries
Review documents studies models and reports prepared by peers
Report results to managers clients partners etc.

Qualifications and skills

University degree (MSc or PhD) in Geology Geophysics or a related field
Experience as a Geoscientist (min. 8 years)
In-depth knowledge of geological principles and practices namely sequence stratigraphy and application to facies prediction
Proficient with geological programs such as Petrel Geolog Techlog etc.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with velocity modelling
Insight into Rock physics AVO Inversion processes
Good understanding of the oil and gas industry
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Strong numerical and literacy skills
Systematic and methodical approach
Able to work efficiently under pressure
Rigor and organization
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Fluent in English (excellent verbal and written proficiency)
