Community of Hope is seeking a Research Assistant to provide direct support of qualitative research practices for Community of Hopes internal evaluation activities and external research partnership. This candidate also coordinates logistics of research and evaluation activities for internal and external projects such as focus group scheduling communication with vendors/contractors and participant recruitment. This is a part-time (10-20 hours per week) temporary (6-month) position located at our Conway Health and Resource Center in SW DC.

What Youll Do:
- Coordinate logistics for evaluation studies including focus group recruitment participant outreach reminder communications and scheduling
- Support qualitative data collection sessions (focus groups interviews) by preparing materials managing virtual platforms (Zoom/Teams) and note-taking as needed.
- Assist with transcription review data cleaning and preparation of qualitative data
- Code and/or support the coding of qualitative data (focus groups interviews open-ended survey responses) using tools such as NVivo Dedoose or Excel as analyzed by contractors when applicable.
- Conduct environmental scans landscape reviews and secondary data analyses related to community needs health outcomes and programmatic questions
- Collect and compile publicly available datasets (e.g. Census DC Health) to support project work
- Assist in drafting research briefs evaluation summaries recommendations slide decks and reports for community partners leadership and funders
Requirements
Must-Haves
- Masters degree in Public Health Social Sciences Education Economics Psychology or a related field required.
- Experience with program evaluation community-based research or mixed-methods research
- Experience conducting qualitative or mixed-methods analysis using appropriate research tools and methodologies
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain clear documentation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to translate data into accessible insights
- Experience working in or alongside nonprofit or community-based organizations with knowledge of Washington D.C. community context highly recommended
Nice-to-Haves
- Proficiency with qualitative analysis software (NVivo Dedoose MAXQDA) and at least one statistical software package (SPSS R Stata or Python) preferred.
- Comfort coordinating with community members research participants and internal teams
- Ability to work independently manage deadlines and adapt to changing priorities
