In this role you will serve as theCesiumAstrossubject-matter expert on complex accounting mattersensuringcompliance withUSGAAPaccuratefinancial reporting andsoundaccounting judgmentin thehighly regulatedaerospace and defense roleplays a key part in supporting high-quality financial reporting informed business decisions and scalable accounting practices as the Company grows.
This is a hands-on role suited for someone whothriveseffectively in a fast-paced environment takes ownership oftechnicalaccountingissuesfrominitialanalysis through implementation and translates U.S. GAAP requirements into clear executable accounting conclusions.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research interpret and applyUSGAAP for complexand non-routinetransactionsincluding revenue recognitionleasesstock-basedcompensationR&D costs and contract modifications.
- Prepareand reviewtechnical accounting memosand position paperssupportingsignificant transactionsand judgments.
- Develop implementandmaintaincompanyaccounting policies and procedures.
- Monitor new accounting standards and assessapplicability andimpactonaerospace defenseand governmentcontracting activities.
- Support month-end quarter-end and year-end close processes related to technical accounting areas.
- Assistwithpreparation of financial statementsfootnotedisclosures and SEC filings.
- Evaluate accounting implications of mergers acquisitions andstrategicinitiatives.
- Review and approve complex journal entriesestimates and accounting conclusions.
- Serve askeytechnical accounting liaison with external auditors.
- Prepare audit documentation and respond to technical accounting inquiries.
- Support SOX readinessinternal controls designand documentation as the company scales.
- Assistwith compliance related to government auditscustomer reportingand regulatoryrequirements.
- Identifyaccounting risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Ensureaccounting practicesalign withFederal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and government contracting requirements.
- Support accounting considerations related to long-term contracts cost structures and program accounting.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
- Minimum of 58 years of progressive technical accounting experience including Big 4 or national public accounting and/or public company experience preferably within aerospace defense regulated manufacturing or IPO-ready environments.
- Experience working with enterprise ERP systems such as NetSuite Oracle SAP or similar platforms.
- Proficiency with financial reporting and data analysis tools.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
- Demonstrated experience preparing technical accounting memoranda and supporting accounting conclusions.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel with working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- CPA or equivalent advanced accounting certification.
- Experience with FAR/CAS and government contracting accounting.
