About the Role

The Fitness Shift Lead at Cougars Athletics and Recreation is a vital role focused on fostering an environment that supports the Mount Royal University community in achieving personal growth through Athletics and Recreation.

Reporting to the Fitness Coordinator the Fitness Shift Lead is part of the programs and services team. The Fitness Shift Lead is responsible for overseeing fitness center operations assisting with personal training services and supporting MOVE MORE group fitness classes.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare for classes including setting up facilities and equipment and record class statistics.
  • Clean and organize all fitness areas and equipment (including studios and storage rooms).
  • Track and record personal training client visits.
  • Conduct facility checks to ensure safety cleanliness and proper user conduct.
  • Monitor capacity in all fitness areas.
  • Perform equipment checks and manage fitness and recreation activity spaces.
  • Understand and implement emergency and evacuation procedures.
  • Employ strong critical thinking skills.
  • Complete assigned tasks from direct supervisors.
  • Mentor and guide fitness centre associates.

Qualifications

  • Preference given to current Mount Royal University students
  • Standard First Aid & CPR-C Certification required
  • Excellent communication organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Customer service and conflict resolution experience

Salary: $15.00 - $18.87 per hour
