DescriptionPosition Function: Functions as an integral part of the patient care team as evidenced by assuring an environment of patient safety under the supervision of the licensed nurse. Provides a safe environment for the patient requiring one to one observation. Is accountable for own action in performing attendant duties as trained. There are no clinical skills associated with this position.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions and Responsibilities
Job Specifics
Uses sound judgment. Notifies nurse when feels that patient safety may be jeopardized.
observes patient for compromises in patient safety. Does not leave patient unobserved. Notifies appropriate personnel if there is a need to leave the room.
supervising nurse when feels that patient safety may be compromised. E.g. patient trying to get out of bed.
with patient as appropriate.
patient off the unit for clinical tests or procedures as directed
room clean and free of clutter.
bed in low position.
side rails as patient safety condition warrants.
patient with call bell that is in reach.
constant visualization of patient. Observant of all patient behaviors and defuses bevaiors as needed.
verbal report from the patients nurse regarding any specific details of care.
with duties such as patient positioning feeding hand/face washing ambulation and simple toileting.
other duties as assigned.
to infection prevention protocols including proper donning and doffing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
as a virtual sitter as assigned which includes but is not limited to observing patients for disruptive behavior or safety issues crawling out of bed fall risks redirecting patients as necessary through a virtual platform and working collaboratively with the bedside staff.
QualificationsQualifications and Standards
Education: Formal Education and Training High school graduate or the equivalent. Informal or Continuing Education: Evidence of participation in educational programs to update and maintain knowledge and skills.
Experience: Experience applying customer service behaviors and communication skills required. Familiarity with health care setting preferred.
Certifications/Licensure: CPR certification required
