The Opportunity
The Monash Centre for Consciousness and Contemplative Studies (M3CS) within the School of Philosophical Historical and Indigenous Studies is seeking to appoint a Lecturer to contribute to the Centres teaching research and strategic objectives. The Lecturer will make a strong contribution to the Universitys teaching effort while maintaining and advancing high-quality scholarly research and professional activities aligned with the discipline. The Lecturer will play a key role in delivering outcomes for M3CS working in alignment with the Centres mission approaches and methodologies.
The role involves teaching within the M3CS stream of undergraduate electives and postgraduate coursework units with a teaching specialisation in contemplative studies and demonstrated tertiary teaching experience in this area. The Lecturer will also undertake theoretical and empirical research supported by a strong publication track record in areas such as experimental psychology and cognitive science moral psychology and contemplative addition the Lecturer will contribute to the development of research-based funding opportunities and competitive grant applications aligned with the Centres strategic priorities.
As the successful candidate you will hold a doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline area or have submitted your PhD thesis for examination or possess equivalent accreditation and standing. You will demonstrate a strong record of teaching experience in a tertiary environment with a focus on contemplative studies education and have proven experience in curriculum and subject material development. You will be able to motivate actively engage and educate diverse audiences and work positively and cooperatively with students internal and external teams and external organisations.
You will bring a high level of interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively across education and service sectors. You will possess strong statistical analysis and manuscript preparation skills supported by a solid and growing track record of refereed research publications in experimental psychology and cognitive science moral psychology and contemplative addition you will demonstrate commitment and passion for scholarly and research activities along acknowledging the capacity to work in a collegiate and constructive manner with colleagues.
