Our highly respected Risk Advisory department in the UK and Ireland is primarily responsible for delivery of consultancy and risk management services. Our team provides high quality services and best practice in risk identification assessment and mitigation and assist our customers in risk-based decision support. This approach is highly valued in Oil & Gas (upstream midstream downstream) the evolving hydrogen sector and in allied areas of Energy transition (Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) renewables).

Our Opportunity:

As a Graduate Consultant in our recently refurbished central London offices youll join our growing team of experts who love finding innovative solutions to our industrys most challenging problems. Youll be given real responsibility from day one collaborating with forward-thinking customers and technical experts across our business helping deliver career and industry-defining projects. You will be given the time to build your network the resources to support your development and the freedom to satisfy your curiosity and desire to learn.

Your development opportunities will include:

  • Learning how major hazards their likelihood and consequences are managed; understanding the importance of reliability of safeguards; and how to make balanced risk-based arguments for safe operations.
  • Applying consequence and risk assessment methods and tools to solve real customer issues using industry leading software and tools validated through large/full scale experiments performed at our major hazards testing and research facility in Spadeadam. Gas dispersion studies advanced computational simulations and quantitative risk assessments are just a taste of the projects that you will work on.
  • Learning Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) software packages and having the opportunity to specialise in gas dispersion fire and explosion modelling for real life assets.
  • The opportunity to actively engage with clients to understand their challenges as they seek to make the Energy industry safer and more sustainable with a special focus on energy transition challenges.
  • Working alongside a variety of world-leading experts to enhance your understanding of our industry its terminology and how different maths physics and engineering disciplines contribute to safety

Youll be stretched but always supported so dont worry if the Energy industry or terminology above is unfamiliar to you we will teach you all you need to know. Upon joining youll receive a buddy to help you settle in a mentor to enhance your technical knowledge as well as ongoing on-the-job coaching and support from your colleagues.

Qualifications

As a Graduate other than your relevant degree we dont expect any prior experience of technical safety engineering or the Energy industry when you join us; However we do want you to share our passion for these and demonstrate your desire to develop yourself within this exciting area.

We try to keep our list of essential requirements to a minimum but there are a few things needed to qualify for our programme:

  • Minimum 2:1 Degree in Physics Mathematics Engineering (typically Aerospace Chemical or Mechanical) Process Safety or Risk and Reliability. Preferably with some experience of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) gained as part of your studies.
  • Available to join the programme by 7 September 2026 at the latest. We also welcome applicants who have already completed their degree and would like to commence sooner.
  • Passion for developing your skills both professionally and personally including the commitment to complete the appropriate professional registration in your field (Chartership).
  • Excellent numerical analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in Excel and Python being beneficial along with the ability to produce concise technical reports detailing clear outcomes of the analysis for customers.
  • Pro-active to learn new skills displaying a willingness to get stuck in and undertake work outside comfort zone demonstrating appropriate balance between asking for help and using own initiative / thinking through the problem.
  • Ability and willingness to take on feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team working skills enjoys building professional relationships and demonstrates exceptional written verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to plan and prioritise own time and activities to meet deadlines and achieve project objectives.
