Job Duties
The Department of General Services (DGS) delivers value to citizens the Commonwealth and the business community through services in procurement engineering facilities management and information systems. The Office of Information Systems and Security (ISS) support operational efficiency and technology management across all DGS divisions.
The Data Interface Analyst works under the direction of the Application Developer Lead to support standardsbased messaging between the Division of Consolidated Laboratory Services (DCLS) Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and state and federal partners hospitals and other providers. The role also supports the V10 LIMS environment and collaborates with BA/QA teams on requirements design and data modeling.
Key responsibilities include designing developing testing and maintaining data exchange interfaces; serving as the lead interface developer on assigned projects; and completing all project work by established deadlines. The analyst ensures compatibility with emerging technologies participates in pilot testing and responds to state or national emergency or regulatory needs.
The position provides 24/7 support for the Rhapsody/Orion Message Broker monitoring daily message activity acknowledgements errors and exception handling. Duties also include developing interface file specifications (HL7 XML CSV etc.) using mapping tools for inbound and outbound messages and coordinating testing and verification of data with trading partners. The position participates in an oncall rotation and provides extended or afterhours support to ensure business continuity for missioncritical processes.
This position will be located in Richmond Virginia and must report on-site. This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule (telework up to 2 days/week) after successful training period.
Minimum Qualifications
Strong attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively to troubleshoot data related issues.
Knowledge and experience with data extraction loading and transformation processes; data message brokering; data integration engines; secure transport protocols; HL7 standards; PKI and encryption technologies; and messaging/mapping techniques.
Demonstrated experience with HL7 data standards and non-standard data exchanges; familiarity with SNOMED and LOINC codes.
Demonstrated experience using the Rhapsody interface engine or similar tool.
Ability to evaluate and analyze subject matter to develop specifications for new or enhanced information processing functions.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues correct errors and redesign interfaces to prevent recurrence.
Demonstrated experience and knowledge of analysis design and implementation of EDI interfaces.
Familiarity with relational database management systems scripting languages such as JavaScript and SQL.
Experience testing data exchange interfaces and user interfaces.
Knowledge of issue tracking and source control systems.
Additional Considerations
Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is preferred.
Experience with IT Application Development is preferred.
