Job Summary
The Maintenance Lead will support the Director of Maintenance in overseeing the maintenance repair and operational functions of all school district facilities. This position ensures that all buildings grounds and equipment are maintained in a safe clean and operational condition. The Assistant Maintenance Director will also manage maintenance staff coordinate with contractors and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in Maintenance Management: Support the Maintenance Director in planning organizing and directing maintenance activities for all district facilities.
- Staff Supervision: Oversee the daily activities of maintenance staff providing guidance training and performance evaluations.
- Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for buildings equipment and grounds to ensure longevity and reliability.
- Work Orders: Prioritize and manage work orders ensuring timely completion of maintenance requests and repairs.
- Budget Management: Assist in preparing and managing the maintenance budget monitoring expenditures and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Contract Management: Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance and repair services ensuring quality and compliance with district standards.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations building codes and district policies. Conduct regular safety inspections and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Inventory Management: Oversee the procurement and inventory of maintenance supplies tools and equipment.
- Emergency Response: Assist in coordinating and implementing emergency response plans for maintenance-related issues including natural disasters and facility emergencies.
- Project Management: Support the planning and execution of maintenance projects including renovations upgrades and new construction.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates or Bachelors degree in Facilities Management Engineering or related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance or facilities management with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Skills:
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in using maintenance management software and tools.
- Knowledge of building systems including HVAC electrical plumbing and carpentry.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in maintenance management or facilities management are a plus.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting climbing and operating maintenance equipment.
Working Conditions
- Environment: The role requires working indoors and outdoors with exposure to varying weather conditions and potential hazards.
- Schedule: Full-time position with potential for on-call hours during emergencies.
