Job Summary
The Industrial Engineer supports General Assembly operations by driving efficiency standardization and continuous improvement on the factory floor. This role blends hands-on operational involvement with strong analytical skills to optimize takt time manpower planning and overall production performance.
The engineer works closely with supervisors team leads and cross-functional partners to establish standard work prepare for digital manufacturing systems and deliver measurable operational improvements.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain takt-time targets and station-level manpower plans to balance production lines
-
Conduct time studies and motion analyses to validate standard work and eliminate inefficiencies
-
Build and manage production performance dashboards tracking throughput bottlenecks and work-in-process
-
Lead continuous improvement initiatives including Kaizen events 5S audits and visual management
-
Collaborate with operations teams to create and refine work instructions aligned with digital systems
-
Perform daily floor observations to identify issues and improvement opportunities
-
Support material flow strategies including PFEP kitting and supermarket systems
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering Manufacturing Engineering or related field
-
3 years of experience in assembly or manufacturing environments
-
Proven expertise in time studies line balancing and standard work development
-
Advanced Excel skills with dashboard creation experience preferred
-
Strong communication skills and comfort working on the production floor
-
Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools such as A3 DMAIC value stream mapping and 5S
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience with MES or digital work instruction systems
-
Background in automotive heavy equipment or complex assembly environments
-
Certification or training in MOST MTM MODAPTS or similar time measurement systems
Tools & Systems
-
Advanced Excel with performance visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau
-
Familiarity with AutoCAD for basic layout reviews
-
Use of time-study tools and video analysis methods
-
Experience with project tracking and collaboration platforms preferred
