Position Summary:
The Divisional Engineer will be responsible for coordinating and implementing complaince programs designed to ensure that all processing of all products is consistent and compliant to customer requirements and purchase orders within the Aerostructures group
The Sr. Quality Engineer should have progressive experience in aerospace and metals manufacturing including over 10 years of successfully leading teams and delivering measurable quality outcomes. Provides strategic direction and oversight for quality systems driving quality systems compliance standards while fostering a strong culture of continuous improvement with a ZDP mindset. Leads cross-functional collaboration to address root causes improve yield and enhance product and process quality. Proven track record in developing and mentoring high-performing teams managing KPIs and aligning quality initiatives with operational and customer objectives. Skilled in supplier quality management audit readiness and implementing data-driven quality strategies that support business growth and regulatory compliance.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supports the Vice President of Quality in achieving Zero Defects across all Aero Sites by improving internal site processes driving strategic initiatives and ensuring continued compliance through product/process audits in addition to other strategies employed
- Translate divisional quality objectives into site-specific plans.
Lead regular quality reviews with site leadership and production teams.
Identify risks to quality goals and develop mitigation strategies.
Ensure alignment between quality goals and production targets.
- Oversee and investigate non-conformances initiates implements and coordinates corrective and preventative actions as appropriate to prevent reoccurrence.
- Performs Interface with inspection and manufacturing personnel on technical issues specification requirements inspection methods and scheduling.
- Maintain product and process traceability systems.
Train staff on regulatory and customer quality requirements. - Analyze scrap rework and defect trends to prioritize improvement actions.
Lead structured problem-solving (e.g. 5-Why Fishbone 8D) with cross-functional teams.
Implement standard work process controls and mistake-proofing where needed. - Keeps management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality activities and corrective/preventative actions being taken to assure continuous process improvement.
- Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality codes and standards.
- Collaborate with Operations to embed quality into daily routines.
Partner with Engineering on process changes validations and NPI launches.
Coordinate with Maintenance to manage equipment-related quality issues.
Support Supply Chain with incoming material quality investigations.
Participate in tiered daily management meetings across departments. - Lead multiple teams or a large team driving strategic alignment off of ZDP tools (PFMEA-Process Control Plans 8D Human Factors) Foster a culture of innovation by encouraging knowledge sharing and process improvement.
- Decision-making is focused on short-term and mid-term objectives. Solves complex problems requiring expertise and critical thinking. Leads teams focused on improvement opportunities.
- Other duties as assigned
- Required to travel 40-50% to Aero sites
Required Skills/Experience:
- Knowledge of raw materials production processes quality controls and costs.
- Strong GD&T knowledge
- Strong knowledge of machine practices and problem solving preferred
- Certified AS9100 Lead Auditor preferred
- Practical experience in pulling at multi-functional team together and performing PFMEAs process walks and conduction product audits
- Knowledge or experience in APQP/PPAP and Operator Verification programs
- Strong practical knowledge in Microsoft Excel with the ability to collect organize synthesize and analyze data; summarize findings; and develop conclusions and recommendations.
- Teams and Power-BI app knowledge a plus
- Ability to motivate develop and direct people as they work identifying the best people for the job.
- Proactive communicator who can clearly articulate results and needs across all levels.
- Ability to establish and communicate clear priorities and to influence others to support and act on those priorities.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
- Machine Shop / Manufactruing Environment experience preferred
- 8-10 years of Aerospace experience
- 2 years in a leadership role in Engineering
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a related discipline preferred
- ASQ Certified Engineer Preferred
