Range Explanation:
Hiring Range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills qualifications experience education licenses training and internal equity.
Pay Range is the entire compensation range for the position.
The Pima County Public Library is seeking a driver to deliver holds and other materials to library locations throughout Pima addition to driving set delivery routes drivers also assist with tasks such as sorting and organizing materials changing materials status online and other tasks related to Circulation Services.
Essential Functions:
As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act this classification may include any of the following tasks knowledge skills and other characteristics. Work assignments may vary depending on the departments need and will be communicated to the applicant or incumbent by the supervisor.
Drives assigned motor vehicles adhering to traffic and safety regulations;
Performs preventative maintenance and operator-level servicing of vehicles including routine inspections and fluid checks;
Maintains records for vehicle usage maintenance repairs and fuel consumption;
Coordinates necessary vehicle servicing repairs and routine maintenance with Fleet Services or relevant dealerships;
Ensures vehicles are compliant with Arizona Department of Transportation regulations including registration and inspections.
Schedules transportation determining the most efficient and safest routes;
Selects appropriate sites for setting up mobile service vehicles ensuring safety access and utility requirements;
Establish and manage utility connections (e.g. electricity water waste disposal) to the vehicle from fixed points;
Operates and monitor auxiliary power generators to supply electricity to the vehicle and peripheral equipment;
Conduct safety inspections of vehicle setup sites to maintain safe working conditions for staff and the public;
Performs routine clerical tasks sorts and distributes mail;
Packs and unpacks boxes of books and other library materials;
Maintain cleanliness and organization of vehicle interior;
May assist in back room check in of library materials;
Daily check of email;
Timely and accurate communication via phone in person and email.
Minimum Qualifications:
Two years of experience operating a variety of motor vehicles (including automobiles vans buses and specialized transport vehicles) with a focus on safe and efficient driving in diverse conditions.
OR:
One year of experience with Pima County in a Driver I or closely related position as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment.

Minimum one (1) year experience in customer service.
Minimum one (1) year experience as a delivery driver.
Selection Procedure:
Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. Licenses and Certificates: Positions that will operate vehicles that hold 15 or more people (including the driver) require an Arizona commercial driver license (CDL). Failure to maintain the required licensure shall be grounds for termination. Valid driver license isat time of application.ValidAZdriver license isat time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review todetermineapplicants suitability tooperatecounty vehiclesin accordance withPima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain andmaintainthe required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services review and approval of the candidates driving record.
Special Notice Items: The Countyrequirespre-employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history education and criminal conviction history. A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County.
Physical/Sensory Requirements:Occasionally operates a computer and other office equipment. Frequently operates out in the community outdoors at events meetings and other locations as assigned. Frequently operates a automobile truck or van and is required to perform basic maintenance.
Working Conditions:The Driver II position operates vehicles for the county in and around county buildings and community settings. This role routinely changes locations and functions as necessary to support the program/department. This role may participate in outdoor activities in variable weather conditions.
