The Sr. Quality Engineer is a professional level position reporting to the Quality Health Safety and Environmental Manager. Sr. Quality Engineer will establish implement direct and maintain quality assurance and procedures throughout the various stages of manufacturing to assure a finished product with the highest quality possible while keeping material scrap at a minimum. The person will work with associates at all levels of the organization to continuously improve our quality system and develop plant addition this person is responsible for supporting the plants QMS and other management systems and provides direct contact with customers UL and other regulatory agency representatives as required.

Principal Functional Responsibilities:

  • Establish electrical test and measuring system to ensure validity and quality of all applicable cables throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Develop and maintain effective systems to achieve plant goals and objectives.
  • Maintain orderly records to demonstrate compliance with specifications.
  • Development and implementation of appropriate sampling and/or control methods as needed to assure desired product quality levels. Manage corrective actions as needed.
  • Investigate returned materials due to quality complaints and ensure that the necessary corrective action is initiated and implemented to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and communicate effective quality performance metrics throughout the organization.
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement projects
  • Evaluate trends using statistical analysis and collaborate with other departments in the development of corrective actions.
  • Support plant efforts to maintain and conform to plant quality standards.
  • Facilitate customer and regulatory agency inspections.
  • Provide support to other departments in their pursuit of improved processes.
  • Support system audits and serve as an internal auditor for the Sedalia Management System
  • Perform related duties as directed by QHSE Manager.

Key Requirements:

  • Must be able to manage multiple complex tasks and deal easily with pressure on a day in and day out basis.
  • Good attention to details but able to see the big picture
  • Critical thinker with excellent analytical abilities.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Solid planning leadership and administrative skills.
  • Demonstrates high energy urgency and fast pace.
  • Good understanding of business practices; can understand impact of quality function to overall business results.

Desired Background:

  • 5 years manufacturing experience (quality assurance); able to understand appropriate product specifications.
  • Comfortable with a variety of software systems including spreadsheets and database systems.
  • Experience in Root Cause analysis corrective actions Lean/Six Sigma)
  • Experience with ISO LPA and other standard quality systems.
  • Leadership experience in a team-based environment
  • ASQ certification a plus.
  • Experience with wire and cable a plus

Education:

BS degree minimum preferable in engineering or related practical science
