Job Summary
Basic Functions
The Apprentice Lineman under direct supervision performs new construction and maintenance work on overhead and underground distribution and transmission lines under the direct supervision of qualified foremen and journeymen.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work safely in new construction maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized overhead systems.
- Install overhead wire set poles and anchors and install transformers lightning arrestors cutouts crossarms insulators switches and switchgear.
- Troubleshoot primary and secondary systems replace cutout fuses and clear faulted circuits and systems.
- Safely install and remove mechanical jumpers and understand how to obtain a one-shot on a re-closer.
- Climb various types of structures (wood steel etc.) and possess necessary tools.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of recent field experience or coursework in the Powerline trade.
- Safety-minded and able to follow safety regulations.
- Valid Drivers License; Commercial Drivers License preferred.
- Reliable transportation for travel as needed.
- Willingness to submit to pre-employment random and for-cause drug testing.
