Reports to: Head Bus Driver/ Superintendent
Terms of Employment: This position is 9 months as established by the Board of Education. Drive 17 hours per week to qualify for insurance. Benefits according to Board policies. Employee on an at-will basis according to Board policies
Purpose: To transport students to and from school and extracurricular activities in a safe and responsible manner so that educational excellence may be maintained in the school system.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Valid Missouri Drivers License-CDL with Bus Endorsement
- Certificate of physical examination signed by licensed physician
- Be between the ages of 21 and 70. After age 70 must have a license issued each year.
- Participate in random drug testing
Essential Functions:
- Required to turn in monthly time sheets to their supervisor.
- Safety checks will be made daily and appropriate documentation made. This includes pre-trip inspections.
- Bus drivers must maintain fuel levels in their bus sufficient for planned trips and routes.
- All questions concerning transportation shall be directed to the director of transportation.
- The bus drivers will notify the transportation director if they are not able to complete a bus route.
- Maintenance requests are to be in written form and turned in to the transportation director.
- Requests for oil changes and maintenance must be turned in every 3000 miles.
- Bus drivers must be at school ten minutes before buses are scheduled to leave school grounds and should deliver students to school in a timely manner.
- Bus drivers shall maintain discipline at all times and report continual disruptive behavior to the director of transportation.
- Bus drivers will never drive over the posted limit. The rate of speed on gravel roads will be determined by road and weather conditions.
- Bus drivers have the authority to make decisions about safety on the bus routes as long as they are within the guidelines of board policy.
- Bus drivers will submit to an annual physical provided by the school.
- Bus drivers will submit to random drug and alcohol testing provided by the school.
- Bus drivers will attend training in excess of the minimum 8 hours required by Dept of Revenue provided by the school district annually.
- Turn in the ridership list yearly.
- Bus drivers will obey all regulations provided in the DESE transportation manual.
- Perform all the duties necessary to the position as may be assigned by the board of education and superintendent.
