RASKC provides animal services to 24 cities and unincorporated King County this includes: rescuing stray injured neglected or abused pets; reuniting orphaned pets with families and/or helping them find forever homes through RASKCs pet adoption centers in Kent and Kirkland including several other partner locations; providing pet licensing services; a wide array of volunteering opportunities and much more. King County is a national leader in improving animal outcomes as a municipal shelter using data and model practices to maintain a high live release rate (above 90%).

ABOUT RECORDS & LICENSING SERVICES (RALS)

The Records and Licensing Services Division (RALS) is a division of the Department of Executive Services.

RALS operates within a statutory framework that is prescribed by state law and county code. Many of the services administered by the division are mandated by state law and are provided in King County on a regional basis across jurisdictional boundaries. RALS also provides certain local services to unincorporated King County and by contract with many local municipalities throughout King addition RALS is responsible for providing internal services that are necessary for purposes of business efficiency and meeting various legal responsibilities.

RALS is responsible for:

• Recording documents related to real property sales and other transactions and making them accessible for members of the public businesses and other government agencies
• Collecting and dispersing real estate excise tax payments on the conveyance of real property in King County
• Providing licensing and information services and promoting public safety by administering and enforcing vehicle and vessel licensing and taxi and transportation network company (TNC) regulations
• Providing internal mail services and physical and electronic records management services to all county agencies
• Providing animal care and control services for the protection of property human health and safety and promoting responsible pet ownership and animal welfare through education and licensing programs via public and private sector partnerships

Scope of Job Duties:In addition to the duties of the Animal Care Technician classification the Animal Care Technician - Lead will:

• Direct coordinate and monitor the work of Animal Care Technicians. Coach counsel and motivate assigned staff.
• Prioritize daily work assignments identify tasks and projects and allocate work accordingly
• Provide training to Animal Care Technicians.
• Coordinate the units work with other work groups.
• Serve as a point of escalation to respond to issues problems or complaints.

We are looking for candidates who:

• Haveknowledge of King County animal control ordinances policies and procedures;
• Have knowledge of procedures and techniques for animal handling identification and humane treatment;
• Are skilled in working with the public;
• Are skilled in defusing potentially volatile situations and handling hostile pet owners and/or citizens;
• Can effectively engage in and sustain relationships with people from diverse cultures and socio-economic backgrounds;
• Can work independently and as a team member;
• Demonstrate proficiency with business applications such as Microsoft Office suite.

• Selected candidate will need to pass a pre-employment physical (must be able to lift40lbs.)
• Selected candidate is required to complete EBI (Euthanasia by Injection) certification within 1 year of employment.

Work schedule:The animal shelter operates 7 days a week. This position will be on a 4/10 schedule between the hours of 7:30am-6:30pm with available schedules of Sunday-Wednesday or Wednesday-Saturday which are assigned based on seniority. This position is covered by the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible and at times may be mandatory.
