Job Description:

TSTC faculty deliver approved curriculum content and assessments in an applied learning environment. Responsibilities include facilitation of activities and discussions that engage a range of learning styles with targeted guidance and mentorship to students.

Faculty will also interpret and administer assessments and offer constructive feedback to support student growth and learning outcomes. A key part of the role is to integrate technology effectively to enrich the educational experiences.

Faculty act as ambassadors for their programs and TSTC.

Salary Range: $51906- $59692

The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidates qualifications and experience.

Faculty will demonstrate TSTC Core values of Excellence Accountability Service and Integrity with internal and external stakeholders customers students and members of the community.

INSTRUCTIONAL DELIVERY:
Prepare and deliver high quality instruction and facilitate the learning of students. Develop appropriate course syllabi and instructional plans and organize daily classes utilizing a variety of creative/innovative techniques.

INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT:
Fulfill assigned schedule maintain accurate student records maintain instructional environment with emphasis on safety equipment security where applicable and ensure opportunities for student/participant evaluation.

STUDENT RETENTION AND PLACEMENT:
Performs student advisement such that students are provided with timely accurate and comprehensive information. Collaborate with the Office of Student Success to ensure students receive current information on tutoring and other programs designed to increase retention.

PROGRAM RECRUITMENT & PROMOTION:
Participate in related tours and recruitment events. Assist in department/program planning for recruitment.

TEAMWORK & SERVICE:
Demonstrates a willingness to be of service and exhibits pleasant and courteous behavior toward customers (students parents employers and media) organizational coworkers and other general public contacts. Maintains flexibility including availability for evening weekend or summer assignment as appropriate; able to work effectively in a team environment; commitment to the mission vision and values of the college.

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

The core competencies for direct instructional delivery in an applied learning environment can be condensed into a few overarching categories:

TEACHING & LEARNING:
Deliver high quality instruction and facilitate the learning of students. Organize daily classes utilizing a variety of creative/innovative techniques.
Tailor teaching methods to diverse learning styles and needs.

MENTORSHIP & COACHING:
Understanding and empathizing with student experiences. Providing personalized guidance and support. Articulating ideas clearly and fostering open communication.

ASSESSMENT & FEEDBACK:
Creating and utilizing assessments to provide constructive feedback and guide evaluating and improving teaching strategies.

TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION:
Effectively using technology to enhance learning experiences.

Required Skills knowledge and certifications or licenses

Knowledge of EMS practices
Knowledge of laboratory safety practices
Knowledge of emergency procedures
Knowledge of pre-hospital practices
Knowledge of proper assessment techniques
Skill to demonstrate use and maintenance of equipment in a safe and correct manner
Teaching and testing skills
Ability to deliver instructional presentations
Ability to prepare an EMS lab for instructional practices
Ability to train and direct students
Physical Demands Working Conditions and Physical Effort *Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects
Associates degree in a related field or approved alternate certification/training.
Three years of experience as a Paramedic functioning on an emergency response ambulance required
Demonstrate competency with use of technology that supports learning and teaching; Maintains a flexible schedule including availability for evening weekend or summer assignment as appropriate

Preferred Skills knowledge and certifications or licenses

Preferred prior teaching experience
Preferred: EMS Instructor Certification BLS Instructor ACLS Instructor PALS Instructor PHTLS Instructor NREMT Paramedic.
Expertise in Emergency Medicine; Expertise in Basic and Advanced Life Support Skills Communication Skills; Teaching Ability; Critical Thinking and Problem Solving; Adaptability and Flexibility Empathy and Compassion Patience and Resilience Continuous learning through evidence-based practice; Ethical and Professional Conduct
Train and direct students on proper emergency procedures to include: suctioning oxygen therapy airway management traction splinting bandaging etc.
Demonstrate procedures including but not limited to: CPR instruction for infants and adults spinal immobilization vital signs patient assessment etc.
Direct students in the proper procedure for medical administration such as: metered dose inhalers epi pens sublingual intramuscular injection subcutaneous injection endotracheal cardioversion code management and defibrillation
Train students on the proper procedures for ECG Recognition such as: endotracheal intubation for adult and infant esophageal intubation intraosseous infusion intravenous catheter insertion external cardiac pacing pneumatic anti-shock trousers and automatic external defibrillation
Provide information in the areas of expertise including but not limited to: hazardous materials communications ambulance operations and multi-casualty incidents
Keep up to date with and revise course content and teaching methodology in order to maintain current working knowledge
Direct and/or evaluate students through skills practice in the proper procedures for safe and effective use of EMS equipment and simulation manikins
Prepare EMS lab sessions with the proper amount of materials and equipment necessary to effectively teach or evaluate EMS skills for each student
Maintain current working knowledge of pre-hospital practices and EMS education curriculum
Train and direct students on proper CPR procedures to include: rescue breathing opening of the airway chest compressions and AED operation while utilizing AHA approved training materials; train and direct students in BLS procedures and protocols
Train and direct students on proper activation of emergency response systems
Train and direct students in proper assessment techniques to include: medical assessment trauma assessment pediatric and geriatric assessment


Education and Experience

Associates degree in a related field or approved alternate certification/training Minimum of 3 years experience as a Paramedic in the pre-hospital setting.
