The Space Systems Platforms Division within the Leidos Defense Kinetic Effects Business Area currently has an opportunity for a Mechanical or Aerospace Engineer Summer Intern to work at our Huntsville AL Dynetics campus providing support to the Universal Stage Adapter (USA) program. This is a dynamic opportunity supporting the Structures Systems and Assembly Integration and Test teams in which talented interns can thrive working alongside junior and senior engineers on a diverse array of multidisciplinary projects in the space systems arena.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support engineering design and integration activities for aspects of USA Structures Systems.
- Develop conceptual CAD models and produce engineering drawings (if needed).
- Work collaboratively with project team(s) to formulate innovative solutions to complex problems and products across a broad range of applications.
- Support structural testing and analysis (if needed)
- Support project team(s) across multiple disciplines with the completion of document deliverables.
- Support the assembly integration and test of the USA test article and flight unit
Basic Qualifications
- Position requires candidates to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Applicant must be actively enrolled and working toward a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Aerospace Materials Engineering or similar Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.
- Applicant must be a US Citizen.
- Applicant must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Ability to perform physical work such as lifting up to 30-lbs.
- Knowledge of and ability to use common hand tools.
- Applicant must be willing to work in-office in Huntsville AL with travel to Decatur AL one to two days per week
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SolidWorks CAD software
- Desire to solve complex technical problems and learn from a team of experienced engineers
