Security Clearance Specialist
The Job
As Security Clearance Specialist at Septentrio you play a critical role in safeguarding our people technologies and operations as we support customers in security-sensitive space and defense domains. You are responsible for managing company and personnel security clearances and ensuring full compliance with national and international security regulations.
Acting as Septentrios central point of contact for security clearance matters you work closely with employees government authorities and external partners. Your work enables Septentrio to operate confidently and compliantly in environments that require access to National EU or NATO classified information.
Your Mission
Company & Personnel Security Clearance Management
- Coordinate and maintain Septentrios company security clearance (VM-R).
- Serve as Septentrios primary liaison with the National Security Authority (NVO-ANS).
- Coordinate and facilitate personnel security clearance applications upgrades and renewals.
- Monitor clearance statuses track validity periods and proactively initiate renewal processes.
Security Compliance & Governance
- Develop implement and safeguard security protocols for handling classified and sensitive information within Septentrio and with partners customers and suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with applicable national and international security requirements including EU and NATO frameworks.
- Support internal audits risk assessments and continuous improvement of Septentrios overall security posture.
Training Awareness & Advisory
- Provide security awareness training and ensure personnel comply with established security protocols.
- Act as a trusted advisor for employees working on security-sensitive or classified projects.
- Work closely with HR Legal IT and leadership teams to align job roles with appropriate clearance levels and access restrictions.
Access Control & Incident Support
- Implement and enforce physical and digital access control measures aligned with clearance levels.
- Support incident reporting and coordinate mitigation actions with relevant internal stakeholders.
Your Qualifications
Experience & Background
- Experience in a security compliance government or defense-related role preferably within a technology engineering or industrial environment.
- Proven experience collaborating with government authorities defense partners or security liaison offices.
- Solid understanding of personnel security vetting processes and security frameworks within the Belgian EU and NATO contexts.
Eligibility & Skills
- Belgian nationality and possession of an active security clearance.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive matters discreetly and professionally.
- High integrity and a strong sense of responsibility when handling confidential information.
