Job Description

This Software Product Manager owns and controls the direction of various components of software that runs MiTeks Automated Machinery. MiTek machinery is integrated with software developed by MiTek and this role owns the delivery of this software. This is a hands-on role based in our Earth City MO facility that will work physically with MiTeks Automated Solutions to ensure that integrated software works properly across various machinery products.

This role works directly with various groups and stakeholders on short and long-term planning for both existing and new machinery software development. The Software Product Manager is responsible for writing operational requirements for software that runs MiTeks automated machinery including design documentation and verification of software features and functionality and provides technical support assistance and training for new software features and functionality as well. This role also works directly with customers to determine market needs run customer research efforts and to determine competitive environment needs. The Software Product Manager is an active and critical member of an Agile development Scrum team within the software development process and a key player in the decision-making group to assess risk of various projects alongside project managers software developers software QA managers and other stakeholders such as the Product Portfolio Manager for Automated Machinery Solutions.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Understands and captures customer needs via user stories and user requirements

  • Works with software development teams to deliver valuable solutions on time

  • Actively manages a backlog for software products and projects

  • Leads customer exchanges and discovery efforts

  • Effectively follows existing MiTek best practices in software development

  • Understands and leads software implementation practices

  • Stays current with software technologies and standards in software development

  • Demonstrates strong understanding of the industry relevant to their product responsibilities

  • Clearly conveys project status and progress toward milestones to various groups and stakeholders

  • Drives project timeline and key deliveries

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent combination of experience and education which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position

  • 2 years of experience with product management methodologies required

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications

  • Excellent planning communication presentation and collaboration skills

  • Ability to bring clarity and order to competing priorities and unmet customer needs

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions

  • Passion for learning new technologies and brainstorm broad applications or ideas with a wide range of stakeholders and customers

  • Ability to foster new and existing relationships with a variety of personality types

  • Strong communication skills to interact frequently with stakeholders and clients

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Production and Machinery software applications used by Wood Component Manufactures and/or experience with Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) and Process Control Systems

  • Experience working in a software development environment or familiarity with SDLC
