Description of Duties: Under the direction of the Dean of Student Development provide comprehensive counseling services in support of the Colleges recruitment retention and completion efforts. The Counselor provides personal career and educational counseling to students. Responsibilities include participating in orientation activities individual and group counseling sessions classroom presentations workshops assessment and placement interpretation outreach activities evening assignments and liaison duties with instructional and student services departments. The assignment includes curriculum development development and assessment of student learning outcomes engagement in professional activities participation in shared governance and committee work and utilizing intervention strategies to support students experiencing academic personal or career-related addition duties include using technologies and systems related to student information systems case management and educational planning to support student success
Required Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : The successful candidate by the final filing date must possess the minimum qualifications at least one of the disciplines below. Please review the Minimum Qualifications Handbook to view the required qualifications to teach a specific discipline. Masters in counseling rehabilitation counseling clinical psychology counseling psychology guidance counseling educational counseling social work or career development marriage and family therapy or marriage family and child counseling OR the equivalent. EQUIVALENCY REQUIREMENT : All applicants are required to meet the minimum qualifications specified by the Yuba Community College District ( YCCD ) by the application filing date. Alternatively applicants must have obtained an equivalency determination from the District before the publication of the Recruitment Announcement. This ensures that candidates either meet the standard qualifications or have received official recognition of their equivalent qualifications. Please click here for equivalency application. Possess a California Community College life credential in the subject matter area of Counseling ( NOTE : A license as a Marriage and Family Therapist ( MFT ) is an alternative qualification for this discipline pursuant to title 5 section 53410.1.)
