The Impact You Will Have:
At Sonar we believe that simply reporting code issues is not sufficient. To truly level up the quality of the worlds software we must empower millions of developers to fix them automatically. With over 400000 enterprises relying on our products we hold a unique lever to shape how software is built.
Recent breakthroughs in AI have made autonomous remediation a reality but one major hurdle remains: Trust. Generative AI makes mistakes and enterprises cannot automate what they do not trust. This is where you come in. As a Senior/Staff Engineer you will architect the backend for Verified Autonomous Remediation a sophisticated Agentic workflow that doesnt just generate code but rigorously tests and validates it using Sonars analysis engine. You will tackle the hard engineering problems required to close the Trust Gap.
What You Will Do Daily:
- Implement Features for the Unified Remediation Engine. You will write the code that powers our remediation efforts. Working with Senior engineers you will implement backend services (in Java and Python) that route requests and manage the flow between our deterministic fixers and new AI agents.
- Develop Agent Logic. You will help turn research concepts into production code. You will implement specific Self-Healing workflows where the Agent reads CI/CD errors and attempts to fix its own code learning how to make these loops robust and efficient.
- Learn Industrial-Grade Engineering. You will move from university projects to real-world systems. You will learn how to deploy to AWS instrument your code for observability (logging/metrics) and ensure your features can scale to handle massive loads.
- Ensure Reliability & Quality. You will write comprehensive tests for your code. You will help the team maintain high acceptance rates by investigating why an AI fix failed and implementing improvements to the logic.
- Collaborate & Grow. You will participate in design reviews and code reviews learning from more senior engineers. You will absorb best practices in distributed systems security and clean architecture.
The Experience You Will Need:
- Strong CS Fundamentals. You have a Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science (or related field). You have a solid grasp of Algorithms Data Structures and Complexity Analysis.
- Polyglot Potential (Java & Python). You are proficient in at least one major language (preferably Java or Python) and are eager to work in a hybrid environment. You care about code style modularity and writing clean testable logic.
- Curiosity for Systems. You understand the basics of how computers talk to each other (HTTP API basics Linux environment). You might not be an AWS expert yet but you are eager to learn how to build distributed systems in the cloud.
- Interest in AI/LLMs. You have a genuine interest in the AI space. You may have taken university courses on ML experimented with OpenAI APIs in hackathons or written a thesis involving NLP. You are excited to apply this to real-world engineering problems.
- Analytical Mindset. You are not satisfied with it works on my machine. You want to understand how things work under the hood and enjoy digging into data to understand why a system behaves the way it does.
