Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is seeking a Remediation and Source Control Lead(Environmental Analyst Sr.) to lead critical efforts in cleaning up and protecting some of our citys most iconic natural resources. Your expertise will help fulfill the City of Seattles commitments to ongoing sediment cleanup projects including the Lower Duwamish Waterway East Waterway and Gasworks Park.
In this role you will drive regulatory compliance strategic planning and technical analysis to guide where City investments are made. By identifying and eliminating pollution sources youll play a pivotal part in preventing future recontamination and ensuring long-term success for these critical cleanup efforts. Your work will directly impact public health environmental stewardship and the restoration of waterways that connect our communities.

Job Responsibilities
As the Remediation and Source Control Leadyou will:
- Support Seattles remediation obligations by guiding source control-related solids sampling establishing long-range source control planning conducting pollutant spatial and trend analysis and compiling associated regulatory reporting
- Oversee particle transport and pollutant loading modeling and associated responsive planning in consultation with internal and external remediation partners including municipalities and regulatory agencies
- Oversee consultant contracts including work planning and budgets for data collection and analysis related to Early Action Areas and remediation sites
- Collaborate with the City of Seattle remediation team to plan and implement source control strategies within remediation basins
- Assist the stormwater policy advisor and stormwater source control staff in drafting and updating the Source Control Implementation Plan and annual regulatory reports
- Attend internal and external meetings with City staff regulatory agencies and members of the public to support remediation negotiations planning and public participation efforts
- Lead SPUs PCB in building materials team coordinating with a multi-jurisdictional team to address potential TSCA site impacts on remediation and conveyance assets

Qualifications
Education:Bachelors degree in natural or physical sciences environmental sciences planning (with emphasis on environmental issues) public administration/policy (with emphasis on natural resources) or related field.
Experience:Minimum of three years of experience in environmental research environmental law impact analysis environmental compliance toxic substance management or a related field. Other combinations of education training and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis for comparability.
Desired Experience:
- Experience working on environmental remediation such as CERCLA or MTCA sites
- Expertise supporting modeling work such as pollutant loading or particle transport
- Proficiency conveying complex environmental regulations and activities to persons with varied backgrounds
- Extensive understanding of contaminants and associated environmental regulations
Additional Information
This position allows for the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule. Starting January 2 2025 City employees will have the option to work remotely two days per week. Individual schedules will be agreed upon by the employee and their supervisor.
