Job Summary

Position: Community Living Worker - Casual

Location: Langley

Hours: Casual hours as needed (inclusive of day afternoon and overnight shifts)

Salary: $25.95/hour

Start Date: ASAP


We are looking for a Community Living Worker to join our SOURCES Community Living Services team! This individual must be Passionate about working with people Engaging and Empathic.

SOURCES is a community-based non-profit organization providing support and hope to communities in the Lower Mainland on Vancouver Island and across Northern BC. Sources strives to create vibrant and resilient communities through support to adults children youth and families facing challenges in life such as mental health disability poverty substance use and conflict. We support our communities through leadership education and volunteerism.

Description of Position:

Sources Community Living provides all-encompassing care for individuals who have been referred to us by Community Living British Columbia. We are currently recruiting a Community Living Worker to support individuals with autism and/or intellectual disabilities with dual diagnoses. Our mission is to enable the pursuit of the best quality of life possible for our clients. We do this by fostering independence well-being and social participation.

Reporting to: Program Manager of Georgia House

General Responsibilities:

  • Build relationships
  • Coach and guide
  • Aid and support
  • Work as a collaborative team

Program-specific Responsibilities:

  • Keep notes and review progress.
  • Maintain a safe work environment for both staff and service users alike including following and monitoring all positive behavior support strategies as they apply to clients in service. This includes being confident and familiar with Non-Violent Crisis Intervention material.

Physical Demands of Job:

  • Lifting/Pulling/Pushing - 50% Walking/Moving Around - 75% Sitting - 25% Time Spent Outside - 50% Bending/Crouching - 25%

Cognitive Demands of Job:

  • Independent Work - 50% Task Memorization - 25% Changing Priorities/Deadlines - 50% Writing/Reading - 50%


Qualifications:

  • You have empathy and are self aware
  • You take initiative and work with integrity
  • You have the physical ability to engage in a variety of home and community-based activities
  • You are knowledgeable or have experience in areas of mental health and intellectual disabilities
  • You have a valid BC drivers license (Class 4 and/or Class 5)
  • You have a clear Criminal Record Check
