- Adhere to and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP requirements.
- Analyzes verifies and approves hourly and first case product release generates and approves COA letters through the use of IBM Infor M3 TLC and Agilent software.
- Ensures safety stock levels of laboratory supplies are maintained including but not limited to titration chemical orders chemical waste environmental monitoring sponges swabs for ATP and allergen testing GC standards sample collection containers personal protective equipment lab supplies such as metal detectable writing utensils personal protective equipment flashlights calculators etc.
- Manages the calibration and preventive maintenance of all lab equipment and instruments including but not limited to: refractometer moisture fat salt acid analyzer PH meters Gas Chromatograph Color Spectrometer are calibrated and operational. Possesses basic technical knowledge of equipment to trouble shoot in case of malfunctions. Responsible to coordinate scheduled preventive maintenance and repairs with equipment service providers.
- Oversees the laboratory proficiency programs and third party laboratory services as well as lab certification programs. This includes but is not limited to New Jersey Department of Environment laboratory certification program American Oil Chemist Society lab certification program liaison between the lab an ESML and Merieux lab services.
- Develops and conducts food safety and quality trainings and ensures all regulatory training requirements are fulfilled. Training including but not limited to QA corporate training scheduled topics Corrective and Prevention Action trainings change in process trainings remedial trainings and regulatory mandatory trainings. Organizes and conducts laboratory meetings as appropriate.
- Oversees QA technicians performance including but not limited to: disciplinary actions time card approvals trainings tool boxes individual coaching/mentorship and direct observation of techs performance. Schedules QA technician shifts and approve time cards and Personal Time off.
- Develops and updates all laboratory standard operating procedures and laboratory forms as needed. Uploads updates and archives documents to policy tech and disseminates updates to all appropriate departments.
- Assists the QA manager in sanitation operations surveillance and documentation as needed.
- Provides the QA manager with schedule and up to date information regarding lab operations food safety and quality deviations.
- Monitor all product holds and product deviations and document appropriately.
- Reviews and verifies all pertaining documentation including but not limited to: swab sheets batch cards weight control sheets positive release sheet and line checks.
- Additional duties as required by direct Manager.
Qualifications :
- Associates degree at a minimum bachelors degree preferred
- 3-5 years of relevant experience. Familiarity with food safety regulations and quality standards
- Proficient (or ability to become proficient) use of Word/Excel and various inventory systems.
- HACCP PCQI
- Must be highly organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Must have good problem-solving skills.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Must be team oriented able to communicate with other employees in a clear and professional manner.
Additional Information :
Must be able to walk and climb up/down stairs and ladders (portable fixed). Ability to perform physical tasks requiring standing bending and walking for extended periods.
Must have the appropriate level of sensory acuity (visual hearing speaking smell and touch) to be able to identify and react to normal abnormal and alarm conditions (chemicals temperature etc.)
Must be able to logically and methodically work through and break down complex problems and processes to enable effective communication with all levels of the organization.
