Job Summary

Summary: The Academic Support Chair helps design coordinate and sustain a focused academic support program to allow students to thrive at Waring in close partnership with Academic Dean Student Support Team (SST) Admissions and faculty. This role prioritizes students with documented learning needs and those experiencing acute academic challenges and works directly with students families and teachers to ensure students have the structure tools and guidance for academic success. The Academic Support Chair reports to the Academic responsibilities:Academic Support LeadershipServe as the primary coordinator of academic support for students with documented learning needs or are experiencing acute academic challenges partnering closely with the Academic Dean to refine and maintain effective support neuropsychological evaluations IEPs and other documentation to develop actional learning profiles to guide classroom practices and promote student and oversee individualized Student Support Plans for students with significant or time-sensitive academic needs. Monitor student progress through regular communication with teachers and advisors and recommend adjustments or next steps when patterns of concern or growth individual and small group academic supports for students including scheduling and overseeing academic tutors with priority given to students with documented needs or active and Liaison WorkServe as a core member of the Student Support Team (SST) contributing academic insight and coordination to collaborative planning for student success. Meet regularly with the Academic Dean to review student progress share observations and align on interventions and teacher briefings on Learning Profiles and/or Student Support Plans with focus on practical academic strategies and classroom clearly and consistently with families and faculty regarding academic supports expectations and student with the Director of Enrollment and Admissions regarding prospective students with documented or suspected learning needs helping to assess fit and anticipate support Student Support Provide limited direct academic or executive function support as time and priorities needs allow particularly during periods of heightened Requirements:Masters degree in relevant field with 3-5 years of related experienceStrong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to motivate adolescent learners and to collaborate effectively with colleaguesAbility to manage and prioritize a caseload within scope of this leadership roleFamiliarity with learning management systems such as Google classroom preferredParticipation in annual all-school eventsAttendance at co-curricular aspects of our school program ( e.g. All-School Meetings) as agreed upon based on FTEParticipation in Faculty Meetings and Professional Days as agreed upon based on FTE Note: The anticipated start date is August 2026. applications from candidates available to start earlier will also be consideredApplication Process:Interested candidates should email a resume and letter of interest explaining their background addressed to Academic Dean to: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling Waring SchoolWaring School is a co-educational academic college preparatory school serving students in Grades 6-12 on Bostons North Shore.
