We are seeking a Data Engineer to contribute to the development enhancement and maintenance of distributed data processing pipelines using Spark/Scala Python and Snowflake and to support reporting and data visualization through Power BI.
The engineer will work closely with senior developers to migrate legacy business logic to modern platforms assist in cloud data warehouse operations and support analytics teams with reliable well structured datasets. This role provides an opportunity to build foundational skills in cloud data engineering and enterprise grade analytics solutions.
The role sits within a technology team responsible for building scalable cloud ready data processing and reporting solutions. The team supports transformation initiatives including modernization of data pipelines migration of legacy reporting platforms and development of high quality analytics driven data products.

What youll do in the role:
Develop and enhance distributed data transformation jobs using Spark/Scala aligned with ongoing QlikView to Spark migration patterns.
Write Python scripts to support automation ETL workflows data ingestion and reporting.
Assist with loading modelling and optimizing datasets in Snowflake including staging copy commands SQL development and stored procedures.
Support the development of Power BI dashboards and help implement visualization best practices including enabling access and exploring Snowflake backed reporting flows.
Work collaboratively with senior engineers participating in Agile ceremonies code reviews and documentation.
Commit code to Git based repositories ensuring adherence to engineering standards and version control practices used across Spark and Power BI repositories.
Contribute to workflow orchestration tasks such as Airflow DAGs and scheduled data processes as required.
What youll bring to the role:
Foundational programming experience in Scala or Java with willingness to work in Spark.
Proficiency in Python for scripting automation and ETL workflows.
Strong SQL fundamentals and interest in cloud data warehousing ideally Snowflake.
Basic understanding of data visualization and BI concepts; familiarity with Power BI is preferred.
Willingness to learn modern cloud data engineering tools and practices.
Bachelors degree in computer science Engineering Information Technology or related discipline; or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred exposure to distributed computing concepts (Spark) and data lake/data warehouse ecosystems and awareness of workflow orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow).
Preferred understanding of CI/CD pipelines version control practices and cloud platform fundamentals.
