Job Summary

Primary Purpose:

Serves as the district receptionist answering phone calls and providing customer service to patrons who call or come into the Support Services building.

Education/Certification:

  1. High School Diploma or GED is required.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  1. Professional and friendly personality when greeting and helping guests.
  2. Effective communication and interpersonal skills with media public and staff.
  3. Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets and answer phone calls.
  4. Bilingual speaking preferred.

Experience/ Other Requirements:

  1. Three years of clerical/ office experience preferably in a public education environment.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Answers all incoming calls takes reliable messages and routes to appropriate staff.
  2. Knowledgeable of school information (names and addresses etc) principal/administrator/board member names; knows appropriate staff to route calls to when callers ask questions.
  3. Assists the Superintendent and Communications offices with duties as needed.
  4. Handles upset patrons in a professional manner as needed.
  5. Updates employee phone list on a regular basis.
  6. Manages the paging system in the Support Services building.
  7. Monitors emergency calls from campuses as needed.
  8. Greets and helps guests that enter the Support Services building.
  9. Represents the district in a friendly and professional manner.
  10. Maintains confidentiality.
  11. Responsible for properly maintaining district records adhering to all policies set forth by the district for records maintenance and learning the records retention schedule for department records.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

Equipment Used:

Personal computer phones Cisco Unity system for transferring calls.
