What you will do at Harris County Precinct 2
Under the Supervision of the Fleet Shop Coordinator or the Repair Maintenance Manager theDiesel Automotive Technician is responsible for performing vehicle repair or preventativemaintenance to county-owned vehicles and equipment as assigned in accordance with HarrisCounty Fleet Services and OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform required Vehicle Maintenance and thorough inspection of all Vehicle Systems including Engine Brakes Steering Suspension A/C and ElectricalDiagnose troubleshoot and perform high quality and efficient repairs with a fix it right the first time approach. Servicing or repairing heavy equipment vehicles standard and small equipment as needed.
- Perform Quality Control Inspections on Vendor repaired Vehicles to ensure repairs are completed.
- Create Estimates and communicate directly and effectively with Coordinators and Parts Department.
- Use OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) scan tools and Fleet software and help at various shops based on workload.
- Perform any additional heavy-duty equipment and automotive related tasks assigned by management.

Requirements
Experience:
- One (1) year of Dealership Heavy Equipment or Automotive Shop Repair
Licensure:
- Valid Texas Drivers License
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:- Able to repair diesel heavy duty equipment and standard vehicles from Class 1 - Class 8
- Help maintain excellent customer satisfaction
- Must have the ability to work well with others in a diverse and high volume environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Must move with a purpose in a high volume environment
- Must have the ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments
- Maintain a professional appearance and manner
- Maintain a clean work space
- Adhere to all County policies procedures and safety standards
- Strong Computer/Tablet/phone Skills to interact with Software

General Information
Position Type:
- Full-time Regular - with on-call hours as needed.
- 40 hours a week Day or Night Shiftand weekends as needed
Work Environment and Physical Demands:- May be exposed to dust dirt fumes etc.
- May be asked to work outdoors in elements such as hot cold and rain.
- May be asked to work at different shop locations based on Fleet Workload
- May be asked to work in Confined or awkward spaces
- Lifting and Carrying: Regularly lifting and carrying parts and tools that can weigh over 50 pounds sometimes even heavier.
- Standing and Walking: Spending long hours on your feet often on hard surfaces which can be tiring.
- Bending and Stooping: Frequently bending stooping and kneeling to access different parts of vehicles which can be tough on the back and knees.
- Manual Dexterity: Using fine motor skills to handle small parts and tools with precision.
- Climbing: Climbing ladders or getting into awkward positions to reach certain areas of a vehicle.
- Pushing and Pulling: Moving heavy equipment and parts which involves significant pushing and pulling.
- Working in Confined Spaces: Sometimes working in tight or awkward spaces which can be physically challenging.
- Exposure to Elements: Being exposed to extreme temperatures noise and potentially hazardous materials depending on the work environment.

Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
