Based in Hoofddorp the Senior Pan-European Compliance Officer plays a hands-on and strategic role in managing workplace conduct and employee relations compliance matters across Europe.
The position will initially focus on directly handling and overseeing complex compliance cases while progressively building standardizing and strengthening Pan-European compliance frameworks processes and governance related to workplace conduct.
The role also serves as a key enabler for management HR and business leaders strengthening their capability to manage people-related risks in a compliant consistent and sustainable manner.
1. Hands-on Management of Compliance Cases & Workplace Conduct
Personally handle and lead complex and sensitive workplace conduct and employee relations compliance cases across European entities particularly during the initial phase of the role.
Manage cases involving workplace misconduct disciplinary actions internal investigations and termination of employment.
Work closely with HR Legal and business leaders to ensure fair consistent and defensible case outcomes.
Ensure high-quality documentation clear decision rationale and audit-ready case management.
2. Labor & Employment Law Compliance (Full Spectrum)
Responsible for ensuring legal compliance across all phases of the employment relationship including but not limited to:
Legal compliance of HR operations including:
Compensation and benefits
Recruitment and hiring practices
Incentive and bonus policies
Intellectual property policies related to employee inventions
Disciplinary sanctions and code-of-conduct policies
Management of legal issues from recruitment through employment changes to termination and lay-off.
Assurance of compliance with data protection and privacy requirements related to employment and HR data.
3. Design & Build of Compliance Frameworks & Processes
Design implement and continuously improve Pan-European compliance frameworks for managing workplace conduct and employee relations issues.
Translate practical case-handling experience into clear guidance operational processes and minimum standards applicable across Europe.
Balance Pan-European consistency with local legal and cultural requirements including Dutch labor law and works council considerations.
Establish clear escalation models roles and responsibilities for local and regional stakeholders.
4. Risk Identification Early Warning & Preventative Controls
Proactively identify emerging workplace conduct and employee relations risks through hands-on case analysis trend monitoring and stakeholder engagement.
Identify recurring patterns systemic gaps or inconsistent practices that may expose the organization to compliance or reputational risk.
Develop and maintain a Pan-European overview of people-related compliance risks and propose targeted preventative measures.
Support leadership with forward-looking risk insights rather than reactive issue management.
5. Stakeholder Enablement & Capability Building
Act as a trusted advisor and subject-matter expert for management HR Legal and key operational leaders across Europe.
Enable stakeholders by providing practical guidance tools and frameworks to support compliant decision-making in complex people matters.
Support training workshops and advisory sessions to strengthen awareness and capability around workplace conduct expectations and compliance standards.
Empower leaders to manage issues effectively while ensuring appropriate oversight and escalation.
6. Challenge Governance & Continuous Improvement
Act as a constructive challenge function identifying gaps or inconsistencies in current practices and governance.
Review existing policies processes and case outcomes to identify improvement opportunities.
Support the implementation of corrective actions governance enhancements and sustainable controls.
Contribute to the evolution of a strong and consistent workplace conduct culture across Europe.
8 years of experience in compliance employee relations employment law HR governance or a related field.
Demonstrated hands-on experience managing complex workplace conduct or employee relations cases.
Experience operating in a Pan-European or multi-jurisdictional environment.
Strong understanding of EU employment-related directives; familiarity with Dutch labor law is a strong advantage.
Proven ability to operate independently in sensitive high-stakes situations.
Strong stakeholder management advisory and communication skills.
Fluency in English required; Dutch and/or other European languages are an advantage.
Complex workplace conduct issues are handled effectively consistently and at an early stage.
Robust Pan-European compliance processes and frameworks are established based on practical case experience.
Management and key stakeholders are empowered to handle people-related issues with confidence and compliance awareness.
