PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Assume certain principal responsibilities as assigned and serve in the absence of theprincipal as the senior administrative officer on the campus.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
Masters Degree
Valid teaching certificate
Texas principal or other appropriate Texas administrative certificate
Preferred: Advanced Education Leadership (AEL) certification Instructional Leadership Training (ILT) or Instructional Leadership Development (ILD)
Preferred: Certified T-TESS Appraiser
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Demonstrates instructional leadership skills
Ability to do numerical analysis
Strong communications public relations and interpersonal skills
Strongverbal and written comminication; able to present information
Thorough understanding of school operations
Work Conditions:
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals.
Posture: Frequent sitting and standing; occasional bending/stooping pushing pulling and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of a mouse; reaching
Lifting: Occasional lifting and carrying (less than 40 pounds); occasional physical restraint of students to control behavior
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; work inside and outside (exposure to sun heat cold and inclement weather) exposure to noise; occasional districtwide and statewide travel
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
Regular Attendance is an essential function
Minimum Experience:
Three years of campus administrative experience preferred
Three years successful experience as a classroom teacher as evidenced by performance appraisals
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Perform all assistant principal duties as listed on the AISD Assistant Principal job description.
- Provide in-depth instructional or management assistance to the principal.
- Assume responsibilities for the initial preparation of the master schedule.
- Provide and evaluate special programs and support services.
- Plan and evaluate special programs and support services.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Abide by State and Federal laws District policies campus expectations and Texas Educator Code of Ethics.
- Perform such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned.
