About the Role:

As a founding member of our Bangalore engineering hub you will lead the frontend development for Remitlys new GetPaid business products. This is a high-impact role where you will build customer-facing experiences inReact NativeandGraphQLwhile ensuring they integrate seamlessly with Remitlys existing global platforms. Because we are building on top of established infrastructure you will partner with frontend architects across the company to adapt shared component libraries and deployment pipelines to meet our product needs. Youll be the bridge between our 0-1 product goals and the technical standards of a global fintech leader making sure our checkout and payment experiences are both innovative and consistent with the broader Remitly ecosystem.

You Will:

• Architect the Frontend:Lead the technical design of our mobile and web experiences ensuring our React Native apps are performant accessible and easy to maintain.
• Integrate with Global Platforms:Work with frontend leads in other regions to align on design systems (Design Tokens Component Libraries) and ensure our product fits into the main Remitly app architecture.
• Navigate Complex Dependencies:Dive into existing frontend codebases and GraphQL schemas to identify where modifications are needed to support new business payment flows.
• Drive Fullstack Delivery:While focusing on the UI you will also build and modify backend APIs inGolangto ensure the data layer perfectly supports the user experience.
• Set Local Standards:Establish the ways of working for the Bangalore frontend team including testing strategies performance monitoring and CI/CD best practices.
• Mentor and Scale:Guide a team of SDE 2s through complex technical hurdles and participate in hiring the initial engineering cohort for the India site.

You Have:

• A Seasoned Frontend Leader:You have 6 years of software engineering experience with a deep focus on building complex UIs at scale
• Expert in React Native & GraphQL:You have a proven track record of shipping high-quality mobile or web applications and a strong understanding of state management and API orchestration.
• A Systems Collaborator:You are comfortable working across team boundaries to modify shared libraries or propose changes to core infrastructure that unblock your team.
• Fullstack Capable:You are proficient in (or ready to master)Golangand understand how to build and maintain the backend services that power your frontends.
• Comfortable with Ambiguity:You enjoy the 0-1 phase where you have to figure out how to build new features within the constraints of a large existing system.
• Driven by UX:You care deeply about the end-user experience including app performance internationalization and polished UI interactions.
