Job Summary

They manage projects from conceptual sketches to final construction including client consultations developing blueprints using CAD/BIM software ensuring regulatory compliance and overseeing site progress.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Planning: Create edit and finalize conceptual schematic and detailed design drawings and construction documents using software like AutoCAD or Revit.

Project Management: Manage project timelines budgets and client expectations from inception to completion.

Collaboration: Coordinate with engineers (structural MEP) and contractors to ensure design integrity and feasibility.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all projects adhere to local state and federal building codes zoning bylaws and safety regulations.

Client Management: Meet with clients to define project requirements and present design proposals.

Site Supervision: Visit construction sites to verify progress resolve design issues and ensure compliance with plans.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Education: A professional degree in architecture (Bachelors or Masters).

Licensure: State-licensed or registered architect (often required for senior roles).

Software Proficiency: Strong proficiency in CAD and BIM software (Revit AutoCAD) modeling tools (SketchUp) and design software.

Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of construction materials building technology and structural systems.

Skills: Exceptional spatial visualization creativity attention to detail and communication skills.

Typical Work Environment

Architects primarily work in offices but frequently travel to project sites for inspection and meetings. The role often requires long hours and at times more than 40 hours per week especially to meet deadlines.
