MW Components - Northern Wire is looking for an experienced 1st Shift Production Supervisor to join our team in Merrill WI.
SUMMARY:
The Production Supervisor oversees daily manufacturing operations within an assigned area ensuring safe efficient and high-quality production. This role leads and develops production team members coordinates workflow monitors performance and supports continuous improvement initiatives to meet customer and business requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise coach and support production employees across assigned lines or work areas.
- Schedule and assign daily tasks to ensure adequate staffing and resource utilization.
- Conduct performance evaluations provide feedback and assist with employee training and development.
- Promote a positive collaborative and accountable workplace culture.
- Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining safety quality and efficiency standards.
- Monitor workflow prioritize work orders and adjust assignments as needed.
- Troubleshoot production issues and coordinate with maintenance quality engineering and materials teams to resolve problems.
- Verify proper setup operation and shutdown of equipment.
- Enforce all safety policies PPE requirements and regulatory standards.
- Conduct safety audits toolbox talks and incident investigations.
- Maintain a clean organized and hazard-free work environment (5S).
- Ensure adherence to quality procedures specifications and inspection standards.
- Review and address product defects scrap or nonconformance.
- Work with Quality and Engineering to implement corrective and preventive actions
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste improve productivity and optimize workflow.
- Participate in or lead Lean/CI activities such as 5S Kaizen and root-cause analysis.
- Support implementation of new processes equipment and technologies.
- Track production metrics downtime labor hours and performance indicators.
- Complete required forms logs and reports accurately and timely.
- Maintain timekeeping records and approve employee hours when required.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
- Strong leadership communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to motivate and develop teams.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes equipment and quality standards.
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions SOPs and production documents.
- ERP/MES experience preferred.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in manufacturing or production operations.
Desired
- Associates or bachelors degree in Operations Manufacturing Engineering or related field preferred.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Experience in shift-based or fast-paced manufacturing environments is a plus.
