Position Summary

TheOperations Technical Supervisorplaysa vital role in supporting the technical and operational excellence of the position collaborates closely with production leadership to advance eventsmaintaincritical technical systems implement venuestandards and leadtechnical crews throughout all phases of productionfrom load-in through load-out. The ideal candidate willdemonstratestrong technical knowledge excellent organizational skills and a commitment to delivering safe efficient and high-quality production operations. This role also contributes to continuous improvement through thorough post-event analysis and technical recommendations.

This role pays an hourly rate of $35.0038.00

About the Venue

TheFederal Way Performing Arts and Event Centeris a multipurpose venue designed to host theater music dance art and spoken-word performances. Adjoining event spaces can host more than 300 for gala seating or be transformed into settings ideal for conferences seminars meetings and weddings. Majestic mountain views are abundant from the PAECs perch above the city an enchanting backdrop for striking event photographs. The centers premier location in South King County just 20 minutes south of Sea-Tac Airport is ideal for business educational social charitable and private events.

Responsibilities

Technical Advance & Event Planning

  • Review and process technical advances riders and event documentation in coordination with the Operations Manager and relevant stakeholders
  • Proactivelyidentifytechnical requirements potential conflicts and resource needs prior to events
  • Communicate technical expectations and venue capabilities clearly to visiting productions clients and internal departments
  • Collaborate in developing event-specific technical plans schedules and staffing recommendations

Systems Configuration & Documentation

  • Support the documentation configuration and testing of technical systems including audio lighting video communications and digital infrastructure
  • Maintainaccurateand up-to-date system documentation including signal flow diagrams equipment inventories andoperational standards
  • Uphold venue technical standards and best practices across all production activities
  • Contribute to the development of onboarding and training materials related to venue systems and procedures

Technical Operations & Crew Lead

  • Organize and directtechnical crews during load-ins rehearsals performances andload-outs
  • Assign tasksmonitorprogress andfacilitateefficient workflow during production calls
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for technical crews and visiting technicians during events
  • Support the Operations Manager in making real-time technical decisions to resolve issues safely and effectively

Maintenance Planning & Facility Support

  • Assistwith planning and tracking routine and preventative maintenance for technical systems and infrastructure
  • Identifyequipment issues maintenance needs and document operational risksin a timely manner
  • Coordinate with operations facilities and external vendors to support system upkeep and repairs
  • Contribute to long-term planning efforts for equipment upgrades and system improvements

Post-Event Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Complete comprehensive post-event reports detailing technical performance staffing outcomes and system issues
  • Provide actionable recommendations for technical improvements equipment upgrades and operational adjustments
  • Track recurring issues andassistin developing solutions to enhance efficiency safety and production quality

Technical Leadership & Decision Making

  • Support venueleadership in making informed technical decisions during events
  • Apply venue policies safety standards and industry best practices when addressing technical challenges
  • Serve as a trusted technical resource for staff crews and event partners

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six monthsrelated experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working in live event production performing arts venues or related technical environments
  • Working knowledge of audio lighting video and stage systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical riders plots and system documentation
  • Excellent organizational communication and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to lead crews and work effectively under time-sensitive high-pressure conditions
  • Strong commitment to safety professionalism and collaborative teamwork

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience advancing touring productions or large-scale events
  • Proficiency with system documentation tools diagramming softwares or signal flow diagrams
  • Experience with preventative maintenance planning and equipment tracking systems
  • Priorcrew leadership experience in technical production settings
  • Knowledge of industry standards best practices and safety protocols (including but not limited to OSHA regulations and other industry best practices)

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings weekends and holidays as required by event schedules
  • Capacity for frequent physical activity including walking standing (possibly onuneven surfaces) climbing stooping kneeling and crawling
  • Ability to work in confined or cramped positions while reaching pushing pulling andoperatingequipment
  • Capability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds on a regular basis
  • Work is performed in theatre backstage and event environments with exposure to varying noise levels lighting effects and temperatures
  • Ability to safely climb and navigate stairs work on roofs and traverse catwalks at heights exceeding 50 feet
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and reflexesrequiredfor safe equipment operation
  • Specific vision abilitiesrequiredinclude close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus (with or without corrective lenses)
