ISP French teacher Role Profile

Purpose of Role

The purpose of the role of a French Teacher is to develop students ability to communicate effectively in French foster an understanding of Francophone cultures and promote linguistic confidence critical thinking and a lifelong interest in language learning.

ISP French teacher Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging French lessons aligned with the ISP curriculum and school standards.

  • Develop students skills in speaking listening reading and writing in French.

  • Foster an appreciation of French language and Francophone cultures.

  • Assess monitor and report on student progress using a range of assessment strategies.

  • Create a positive inclusive and well-managed learning environment.

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students.

  • Use effective teaching strategies and educational technology to enhance learning.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum development and whole-school initiatives.

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student progress.

  • Participate in professional development and contribute to the wider life of the school and ISP community.

Skills Qualifications and Experience

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate and engage students in language learning.
  • Effective classroom management skills.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Confident use of educational technology to support learning.
  • Collaborative approach to working with colleagues and parents.
  • Qualifications
  • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE or equivalent).
  • A degree in French or a related subject.
  • Appropriate teaching certification or licence (where required).
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Experience
  • Previous experience teaching French to children or young people.
  • Experience working within an international or bilingual school environment (desirable).
  • Experience planning delivering and assessing language lessons aligned with curriculum requirements.
  • Experience supporting students with varying levels of language proficiency.

Requirements:

  • Availability to work flexible hours.
  • Availability for on-site teaching.
  • Proficiency in the French language (certification required).
  • Professional appearance.
  • Committed cooperative and responsible attitude.
  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience (desirable).

Education

  • Bachelors degree in Languages or a related field.
  • French language certification or accreditation.
