As a member of a multi-disciplinary team in the Womens and Childrens Program the Social Worker will provide a range of social work services based on family-centred care. This care includes perinatal loss; child protection concerns for the newborn neonate and paediatric patient; crisis intervention counseling for parents and/or the obstetrical patient and support to families facing birth anomalies and acute and/or chronic illness. This position reports to the Manager Womens and Childrens Program with professional accountability to the Professional Leader for Social Work.
Accountabilities:
- Advocate on behalf of the patient and liaise with the multi-disciplinary team and community agencies to access services and provide continued health care as identified
- Attend team meetings consult with your professional peers and represent Osler as required
- Work closely with the other program social workers to cover the needs of all clients in the Womens and Childrens Program
- As an integral part of the corporate Social Work team participate in yearly strategic planning initiatives and corporate professional development
Qualifications :
- Master of Social Work from an accredited school of social work
- Current registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
- Minimum two years experience in a hospital setting preferred
- Knowledge of the Child Health Network and regionalization
- Experience with perinatal loss neonates and child welfare and crisis intervention essential
- Knowledge of relevant legislation including Child Welfare Act and Child and Family Services Act
- Strong counseling skills in individual family and group mediums
- Demonstrated interest in continuing education working with community partners and participating in project development
- Ability to provide peer coverage within the program as required
- Demonstrated regular work attendance and excellent performance
- Demonstrated ability to utilize critical thinking problem solving and teamwork abilities
- Excellent interpersonal organizational and communication skills
- May be required to work and travel between all Osler sites
- Must demonstrate Oslers Values of Respect Excellence Service Compassion Innovation and Collaboration

Hours: Currently Monday to Friday day shifts with occasional evenings (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)
Salary:
Minimum: $45.58 per hour
Maximum: $59.09 per hour
