JOB SUMMARY: The Manager Security Services is responsible for managing administering and enforcing the policies and procedures related to the safety and security of the employees visitors buildings and collection as assigned by the Chief of Security and will manage the Security Services team members as assigned. Support mission and vision of Museum throughout performance of duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Develop implement and oversee daily weekly and special-event security staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage at all times.
- Communicate and disseminate work schedules shift changes and coverage updates clearly and in a timely manner.
- Administer and monitor timekeeping and timecard submissions ensuring accuracy compliance with wage and hour rules and timely payroll processing.
- Perform on-floor security services in the galleries and for events to support daily operations and staffing needs.
- Serve as primary point of contact to resolve escalated Security issues when Chief of Security is unavailable.
- Ensure SSR team follows proper administration usage and follow-up for the incident reporting process and any resulting investigations. Escalate all investigations to Chief of Security.
- Provide back-up support for access control procedures including administration of the ID badge program visitor management process traditional lock and key hardware as well as the card access system.
- Ensure SSR Supervisors utilize digital CCTV tools and camera-based security system to ensure safe museum practices as needed in the performance of their job duties.
- Maintain working knowledge in various environmental health and safety areas including general fire and life safety industrial hygiene and basic OSHA/fire department compliance.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams to meet deadlines and prioritize in a fast-paced ever-evolving environment.
- Support execution of goals and objectives of SSR team as defined by Chief of Security which include cross-departmental collaboration with other Museum departments.
- Continue to learn and develop self and Security team in the areas of Education & Engagement to better engage the public when applicable and have a greater awareness of Education & Engagement initiatives goals and day-to-day duties.
- Flexibility to work alternate part time graveyard or special event shifts including weekends and/or after business hours to meet security staffing needs.
- Provide ongoing management of SSR team as assigned by Chief of Security which may include mentoring coaching engagement and corrective action.
- Ensure safe work environment through knowledge of and adherence to safety policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Proven experience in Security management operations security systems emergency management and special event security. General management skills to include training interviewing security drills and performance management. Working knowledge of tactical security operations. Outstanding professional verbal written and customer service communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of visitors employees vendors public and trustees in an engaging manner. Ability to successfully function in a dynamic fast-paced multi-tasking environment often while working with on-going distractions and occasionally high-volume attendance. Ability to perform crowd control and provide clear guidance and direction. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to handle situations with tact and diplomacy. Ability to maintain professional composure while carrying out the duties of the position including high pressure situations. Ability to respond to emergency events which may require rendering medical assistance; performing 911 notifications; and providing evacuation support during fire alarm earthquake or other events. Ability to work with minimal direction. Strong technical skills with proficiency in MS Office. High school diploma and five years recent relevant experience or any equivalent education and experience. Professional certifications in related areas of security preferred. Prior museum art or non-profit experience preferred.
