Position Overview
We are seeking a Hospital Care Investigator to support Patient Financial Services operations within a healthcare revenue cycle environment. This role focuses on patient account review claim preparation and submission payment posting denial resolution and maintaining accurate patient accounting records.
Key Responsibilities
Review and audit patient accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness
Prepare submit and follow up on paper and electronic insurance claims
Identify correct and resolve claim edits rejections and denials
Post payments adjustments and refunds accurately and timely
Process pre-authorizations and document payer follow-ups
Generate and work Patient Balance Aging and Insurance Aging reports
Provide billing-related customer service and document all interactions
Establish and monitor patient payment arrangements
Collaborate with internal departments to resolve billing discrepancies
Escalate complex or unresolved accounts to leadership as appropriate
Attend required trainings and perform additional duties as assigned
Required Skills
Strong understanding of healthcare billing and revenue cycle operations
Proficiency with computer systems and electronic health record platforms
High attention to detail and accurate data entry skills
Experience managing insurance denials correspondence and follow-ups
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong customer service and problem-solving abilities
Education & Experience Requirements
Candidates must meet one of the following:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university OR
High School Diploma (or equivalent) plus 4 years of full-time experience in areas such as:
Interviewing or investigation
Credit or collections follow-up
Bookkeeping or patient accounts
Related administrative or financial roles
Equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum Requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent
