Middle School Unified Basketball Coach
Mission Statement: Everett Athletics strives to educate and inspire student-athletes to be the BEST version of themselves!
Responsibilities: As the Middle School Unified Basketball Coach you are directly responsible to the Director of Athletics and the building principal. The coach of an individual sport must realize that any activity sponsored by Everett Athletics is part of the total program offered. Individuals in charge of such activities must utilize sound educational principles and goals if athletics are to be a worthwhile part of the overall school program. Some of the duties of the coach shall include:
Location: Lafayette School
Essential Duties:
- Coach individual participants on the skills necessary for excellent performance in the sport.
- Ensure the safety of student-athletes in all activities and at all venues.
- Assist with transporting all student-athletes to and from games/practices.
- Maintain accurate records of team lists scores incident reports and physical examinations.
- Recommend purchase of equipment supplies and uniforms as appropriate.
- Be responsible for the information contained in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Handbook and the EPS Student Handbook.
- Maintain open lines of communication with parents and/or guardians.
- Be present at each practice session and at all contests of the sport coached. This includes supervising locker room and shower areas before and after practices contests and bus trips and securing the areas.
- Encourage sportsmanship and respectable behavior. These standards are those set down by the Principal and Athletic Department.
- Attend all Athletic Department meetings that deal directly with the sport coached including Special Olympics MIAA GBL Coaches Associations and Athletic Awards meetings. Stay informed of rule changes trends and recommendations that affect their sport.
- Work with community members involved in youth sports to encourage student-athletes to continue participating in high school sports.
- Assists in the distribution and collection of all uniforms and equipment. Coaches are responsible for the equipment that their team members do not return by the designated time.
- Performs all other duties as the principal and or athletic director may deem to be in the best interest of the sport students and school.
Preferred Education/Experience:
- Previous basketball coaching experience is desirable.
- Knowledge of basketball and its rules and the ability to instruct players in all facets of the sport.
- Evidence of ability to get along with pupils parents colleagues and other citizens.
- CPR Certification
Salary:
- $week season. Payments will be made in 3 installments.
