Duties

  • You will develop and revise safety and occupational health instructions rules and regulations applicable to industrial activities and seeks cooperation of supervisors to eliminate unsafe working conditions and mechanical risks.
  • You will participate in command meetings involving private contractors to assess safety and occupational health hazards related to contractor activities such as new construction repair or maintaining ground facilities.
  • You will conduct investigation of ground accidents preparing reports of accidents formulates and establishes procedures for reporting of accidents; maintains accident records and evaluates accident data to detect trends and common patterns.
  • You will develop and conduct a comprehensive ground safety education program through formal training sessions guest lectures.
  • You will consult and maintain liaison with other safety and health personnel such as industrial hygienists to resolve occupational health hazards civil engineers regarding alterations of buildings.

  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report OGE-450 within 30 days of appointment.
  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States drivers license.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets gloves coveralls glasses goggles respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: ensuring safety programs and facility inspections meet regulations to advise council through trend analysis and reports for planning.
