Your Role in Supporting Our Members

As a Network Engineer you will provide technical expertise for system design administration operation & configuration for Vancitys infrastructure. Youll optimize current technology provide trend analysis and manage technology lifecycle within the practicing area of Vancitys networking platforms. Youll ensure highly stable and secure network infrastructure to meet service level goals and build cross-functional relationships to develop & implement network solutions.

This is a permanent full-time role that will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office. Periodically youll be required to attend in-person activities or events.

A typical day would involve:

  • Designing developing documenting and maintaining foundational network platforms including WAN campus networks disaster recovery contact center cloud security and wireless environments
  • Supporting day-to-day business needs while adapting network solutions to evolving security requirements and user expectations
  • Providing second-level technical support to the IT Service Desk ensuring service level goals and IT standards are consistently met
  • Conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis for business and technology applications recommending optimized cost-effective and secure network designs
  • Managing and prioritizing a network work-order queue coordinating with internal teams and external vendors to deliver timely and effective solutions
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement through technical trend analysis proactive problem identification and lifecycle management
  • Resolving IT work orders in accordance with established standards so business needs are met efficiently and reliably
  • Participating in incident response calls and provide hands-on support during major system failures to restore operations efficiently

What youll bring to the team:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2-3 years of progressive experience in network engineering or infrastructure roles preferably within complex enterprise or financial services environments.
  • Experience in core network infrastructure and related technology Switching Routing Storage Voice Load Balancers and Cloud.
  • Experience in security and related technology (VPN Firewalls best practices)
  • Basic knowledge of windows infrastructure (DNSADDHCP)
  • Basic knowledge of virtualization
  • Knowledge of physical infrastructure (such as device racking cabling data center best practices etc.)
  • Successful completion of Cisco CCNP.
  • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) is preferred.
  • Proficient with tools for network automation configuration management and documentation
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices and structured problem-solving in high-availability environments.
  • A valid drivers license

What Youll Earn:

This role offers a salary range of $75700 - $94000. The base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications skills previous experience and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program subject to program eligibility requirements.
